Hello from snowy Colorado

Hello all,
I'm a retired EE, and love music but am not gifted in playing it. So discovering the potential of concert DVD's in the home theater environment has been wonderful. I've built speakers for decades. Best set were refridgerator-sized behemoths (18 inch eminence woofers, etc. - Mmmm, Bass!) but the WAF (Wife Acceptance Factor) was poor. So I'm on my fifth generation (somewhat more modestly sized) set. Satellites are vanilla MTM Dayton RS-180 based designs with a Titanic MKIII 15 inch w/plate amp based subwoofer. Also finished everything in hand-rubbed black lacquer w/copper inlay which makes improves the WAF tremendously :-) and the woodworking is almost as much fun as listening to the final product.
The imaging on the satellites turned out great, but integration of the subwoofer has proved enormously thorny, so while searching around for SPL meters I stumbled across this site. From what I've read so far, I've come to the right place, as there appears to be a great deal of audio know-how here. And the seriousness of the forum rules is a plus since at many other forums the anonymity of the internet often breeds incivility. It's nice to find a place where civil discourse on audio and related topics can be had.
I'll post some questions related to the appropriate forum once I've had time to read more and verify my issues haven't already been answered here somewhere.
Thanks,
JD
