New member from Nijmegen, the Netherlands

Hey all,

I just read that introducing yourself is really appreciated by everyone.

Well here I am

My name is Sander and I live in Nijmegen, thats a city in the eastern part of the Netherlands, next to Germany. Me and my girlfriend own a lovely appartment near the city center. I'm celebrating my 25th birthday on the 3rd of february 2008. I work in the purchase department of a large metal company.

I am the owner of a modest home theater. My setup contains the following components:
Receiver: Onkyo TX-SR500E
DVD-player: Philips DVD 763SA
DVD-player: Pioneer DV-350
CD-changer: Onkyo DX-C380
Screen: Philips matchline CRT 100hz (old needs to be replaced)
Front and rear speakers: Dali Concept 2
Center speaker: Dali Concept Center
Subwoofer: Mordaunt Short 309 SW

I also collect and repair vintage audio equipment as a hobby. These components change from time to time because I exchange them for nicer ones.

So this is me in a few words. Now its someone else his turn.

Sander

Hello Sander and welcome to the Shack!

I've always been impressed by the looks of those Dali speakers. Maybe one day I'll get to hear them somewhere.

Glad to have you on board.

Hi Sander,

Welcome to the Shack! I'm only familiar with Nijmegen from its part of history in the second world war, but I'm sure Nederland is a beautiful country.

It would be very interesting to see a thread with photos detailing the restoration or repair of some vintage equipment (if there is a forum for such a thing here at the Shack).

Post a few pics of some of your gear if you get a chance.

Nijmegen has got a 2000 year old history. It's the oldest city in the Netherlands. It's in between a couple of rivers and we also got some forrest nearby. The area is quite diverse here. Im really attached to this city and happy to live here. I would be happy to show anyone who visits Nijmegen around.
More information can be found in wikipedia as well. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nijmegen

I dont know yet if there is a forum about restoring vintage equipment here at the Shack, maybe someone can tell me that. I dont mind at all to make some pictures of work in progress. Altough I've put everything on hold at the moment. I have to follow some courses for my job at the moment. One course is for radation expert (which just sounds cool but really isn't), a first aid course and I study higher management.

At the moment I have got the following equipment waiting for a repair:
Turntables
- Pioneer PL120 (bought it for 4 euro(USD 5,51)) broken needle, broken snare
- Technics SL-Q210 (got it after fixing someones computer(yes I can do that too)) don't know yet

Amplifiers
- Akai AM 2250 (My first amplifier) potentiometers need some cleaning
- Philips FA-910 (90's vintage)
- Sansui A-5 (plastic fantastic) replaced poweramplifier module (STK)

Receivers
- Sony STR 7015 (broken potentiometer)
- Onkyo TX 910 (not really broken) some dust in potentiometers

Tuner
- Akai KT-03 (my first tuner)

CD-player
- Philips CD-920 (bought it because i just wanted the 900 series complete) looks cool

DCC-deck
- Philips DCC-951 (same reason as the cd player)

Further more I have some experience with building my own speakers. I made a pair of broadband speakers which are doing fine next to the computer. I've also put my old Jamo compact speakers in the kitchen and my old Mission 731pro speakers in the bedroom.

Ill see if I can make some pictures this weekend. I need to clean up a bit before I do so. Dont want the whole web to see my mess.

I chose the Dali's a few years back after spending a week in the audio shop here in town. I've been a customer there since I was 13. Always got good service and everything. So when it came to picking a couple of speakers I went to the shop and listened and listened, every day till closing time. Finally i had the right match. I was amazed by the sound produced by these speakers. So i decided to have them delivered to my house

I got some pictures somewhere of taking one apart to see what the components are.
Here's a link the pictures. These are taken in my moms house. My interior is more stylish now.

For now ill go watch some tv and listen to music and study
