| Mark from Texas Happened upon this site searching for information on subs and speakers and amplifiers and ... well you get the idea all the HT stuff. I am the process of upgrading my fairly old HT setup to something better. Spent the last 3 weeks just learning all about subwoofers. You see, I have never owned one and I was watching a movie and finally figured out part of what was missing. Bass! you got it! There isn't any at all. Then I started to think (and that is dangerous) cause one thing led to another and now I am on a mission. I am gonna replace all my speakers (looking to go with Axioms) and a subwoofer. Well ok, subwoofer I say - Yep I want subwoofer... but I do not know much about them. My journey begins. After lots of reading and looking at manufacturer websites I have narrowed my sub list down to SVS, Epik and Axiom. I like the cylinders but then started looking at the boxes. Then searching for more info on SVS and Plus/2 landed me here. So Hello there. Looks like there is some great info and nice folks here. I have lots to learn and seems like a great place to gain some knowledge and chat about HT. Last edited by PhotoByMark : 01-13-08 at 11:16 AM. | |||

| Re: Mark from Texas Hey Mark, Glad you found this site. I'm new as well and also shopping for the best sub system for my HT. I'm still trying to gather everything I can about Inifite Baffle systems and I'm filling pad after pad with info. trying to sort it all out. I noticed you're from Kendalia...I haven't heard that name since college. I worked for the State Dept. while going to UT and got lost a couple of times heading west - ended up there (yes, I no longer drink and drive ). I know it's atleast a 3 1/2 hr trip for you to visit Houston; but if you're ever in the neighborhood, maybe you can join us for one of our get togethers?Glad to have more Texans onboard and hope to hear how your search unfolds. | Re: Mark from Texas Hi Mark, I own the SVS PB12-Plus/2 myself and I love it. I use Infinity tower and surround sound speakers everywhere else in my theater because I have always loved the Infinity sound. But I didn't really care for their subwoofer options. A friend of mine suggested SVS from his experience and it has been a perfect choice for me. It really rocks the house but is a very clean sound. I still haven't found its limit. It just keeps going and going! ![]() I just recently met the owners and others from Axiom and had an extensive time to hear their equipment in a demo room. WOW! I was really blown away. The next time I outfit my home theater or another room for music or movies they will be VERY high on the list. And they were really nice people too. We had some fun talking together. Ian really knows his stuff. He emphasizes not only the technical performance of the speaker and the acoustics of the room, but also the psychology of sound and listening. It wasn't fly-by-night psychobabble either; it was something I had never considered but seemed so important after discussing it with him for a little while.
