G'day all,

well, a brief intro should do it i think,

My name's Scott, and i'm from Sydney (Australia).

Currently have a small, but dedicated HT room, running Orpheus Aurora speakers and a Cambridge Audio Home Theatre Reciever. I utilise an Epson TW700 for viewing pleasure.

I am an Electronics Field Service Engineer by employment with an international diagnostics company, i have worked in Medical Diagnostics for many years, my former employer was Bayer Diagnostics until the division was sold to Siemens.

Looking at studying part time to obtain certification(s) from CEDIA and the like as there is not alot of "certified" installers in my area, and i like the extra curricular work/study.

We've been thinking about joining CEDIA, but the $500 fee is keeping us on the fence about it for now. Not sure if it would benefit a forum or not.

I agree, the fee for CEDIA and the pre-requisites are a little steep IMHO, but then, it's always good to have a cert. of some kind behind ya i guess, but considering there is no formal "need" to have a CEDIA cert, i think some of the pre-requisites are a bit over the top, especially since it essentially doesn't give you an active "license" for anything (unlike trade certificates etc). I'll head down that path (CEDIA), but that's just so I can get a bit of quals behind me, for those ppl out there that demand them...
