Hi all ,this looks like a great forum as I have been reading it for a while and thought I should register.
I am sure to learn much and hopefully I can even contribute something useful now and then.

HT and DIY speakers and electronics are my favorite topics.
Most of my HT and music system is either DIY or extensively modified components.I've got the Audio bug pretty bad.

I look forward to being part of this forum.

I'm sure you can contribute also with the experience you sound like you have. Feel free to share your projects, designs, pics, etc. We'll have the Members Gallery open probably tomorrow so we can host all your pics too.

Hi and Thanks Exocer,
The two pieces that I am currently using that I have heavily modded are the Pioneer DV563 Universal DVD player and a Bryston 10B L-R active xover. Much of the rest of my system is scratch built.
Including the Preamp,DAC,two sub xovers with EQ and phase control,two sealed subs one for LFE one for front Left and Right (soon to be one for centre channel).Also built all LCR speakers . The LR are 4way tri amped. So yes as you can see I ve got it bad.
Anyway if you have any questions about my mods and such just ask.

Nice to meet you. Sounds like you've been busy. I'd love to see some photos, whenever you get to it. That's a wide array of DIY you have there. Nice job.

Also, I'd be interested in how you implemented your sub crossover and its phase control.

Hi Otto,
Yes my soldering iron has been busy the last few years,and I,ve got more unfinished projects that I have been avoiding for months.The Wifey has me busy with house repairs and updates and other unimportant tasks.

I would like to post some pictures but the only digital cam I have is on my camcorder .The picture quality is poor to say the least( 1.3 megapixels).So I will need buy or borrow a real camera before I can do this.May I ask when I do happen to get some good photos how do I go about posting them on this forum?

Here's a description of the sub xovers of which I have two.The one I use to augment the bass of my front left and right speakers uses a summing input with adjustable gain. This is followed by a switchable inverter stage to change phase from 0 to 180 deg. Then into a 24db per oct LPF at 60hz followed by a single Marchand BASSIS eq for fine tuning the twin 10" sealed box woofers.

The one for my LFE channel has an input buffer then an adjustable gain stage. Next is a 24DB LPF at about 50 hz.Then comes a single band of parametric EQ ,followed by The phase control which is variable with a pot between 0 and 180. Then I have a Linkwitz type boost circiut to give 6 db of boost at 28 hz to single 12" sealed driver.

I have since obtained a schematic diagram for a 360 degree adjustable phase control that I intend to incorperate into both units.

If you would like more specific info let me know.

Well, if you don't have a digital camera by now, I say "do it!"

At the risk of going off-topic, I'll continue -- I recently had to buy a small digital camera for my wife (needs to fit in purse, and have minimal buttons and settings). I got a Kodak "EasyShare" thing at Office Max or someplace like that for $140 or so. So far, it's been a great camera, and takes great photos. I also have a Nikon CoolPix 5400 that's got a lot more bells and whistles that we really don't need. I bet a lot of audio/HT guys (and gals) have a tendency to research and research, but prices are so low on digital cameras now that you can just jump in...

When you are creating a response to the forums, there's a toolbar at the top of your dialog box. With that toolbar, you can change your font, bold, italic, etc. Check it out, and you'll see a paperclip symbol. Click on that to get a dialog that will let you search your system for images. Once you have uploaded your images, you can click on that paperclip icon again and now you will get a menu that includes "Manage Images" as well as the names of the images you have uploaded. You can the select the image name at that time, and it will be inserted at the cursor (it'll look like some HTML-type code).

I'd be interested in such a schematic. I'm planning on building a DIY sub. I will then use the bass management of my preamp to set the crossover frequency, and an external pro amp for power. However, this leaves me without any phase control, and I'd like to have that.

We also have the Members Photo Gallery now that you can upload pic to and create your own online area for all your images. You can simply link to them from there.

Yep, Sonnie's right about the Member's Photo Gallery stuff. Also, that last picture in my post was one that I uploaded, but then never took the second step to "insert" into my text. So if you upload, and then don't put them where you want, they all end up at the bottom as "Attached Images". Also, I believe you have to be in the "advanced" mode for reply to get the paperclip icon (that's how it's appearing to me...).

Thanks guys for the pointers on uploading photos. It will probably take me a few tries before I get it figured out. I seen the Kodak that you mentioned Otto for a reasonable price and think I might just get one in the next week or two.

Otto,except for the 360 degree phase control I dont have schematics thats why I could only give you a written description of my xovers. However in this link http://www.lcaudio.com/subfilter.pdf the phase control section is very similar to the one in my unit that allows 180degree phase adjustment. I dont have a scanner so can't get the schematic for the 360 degree design on to my computer .But If you want it you could PM me a fax number and I could sent it to you that way.
