| groundie from the mountains hello folks, i live up on the mountains of north Georgia and during last 2 months or so, i have been on a quest to improve my audio quality... for now my 2-chan stereo system for critical listening. home theater system is something i will likely get into in the coming years. so far, this is what i've done to improve and rewards have been quite something in increasing order of significance: 1) replaced puny speaker wires with Belden 5000UE with banana plugs. 2) Parasound Classic 2100 stereo preamp 3) Parasound Classic 2250 amp 4) Behringer DCX2496 active crossover (feeding in CD digital output) 5) pair of diy speakers with SEAS CA18RNX 7" woofer and Seas 27TDFC tweeter (truly amazing sound and it took only couple of leisurely afternoons to put together; my old B&Ws are sitting out on the bench). cheers and hope to learn and share more... ![]() | |||

| Re: groundie from the mountains thanks to all for your welcome notes. i'd like to ask how do you curve those urges for just one more tweak to the system; you know, what if i got these new speaker cables, fancy-looking interconnects, cryo-treated connectors, etc. etc. is there a method to the madness? g ![]() | |||

| Re: groundie from the mountains by the way, i did indeed mean 'curve' rather than 'curb'. the latter signifies a termination (which i know i won't do) and the former implies only a gradual attenuation (which is more likely). ![]() | |||
