Hope this forum is different

I've been a long time lurker at many of the other forums and have always been bothered by how many threads turn into personal battles. I hate having to sift through 10 pages of garbage so I can read the few meaningful posts. Here's hoping this forum stays clear of name calling, nitpicking of syntax / spelling and people saving old threads / posts to use as ammunition months after the fact. I have just one quesiton, Does a 4pi environment give better measurements than GP?

Haha, j/k. So when's the first GTG to do some measurements or blind listening tests?

Welcome. Concerning kindergarten behavior, I agree with you whole-heartedly as do all the mods and many of our members. We're working together to make this the best HT forum for friendly adults. I love the fact that here I can converse with some very humble experts.

We are the Shack. Existence as you know it is over.
We will add your biological and technological distinctiveness to our own.
You will be mapped. Resistance is futile.

Welcome to the site and unfortunately as the site becomes more populated and there are that many more opinions I’m sure it is inevitable that the debates will be ongoing. But the site does do there best to curb it so far.

I shouldnt say they curb the debates but rather the tone that they are conducted...

Hey Mike and welcome to the Shack!

I think you will be well pleased here. One of the many prerequisites of developing this forum was to eliminate exactly what you are referring to. As Tommy eluded to, as we grow it will be more difficult to control it, but we will still do all we can to gain control of a unwanted situation as promptly as possible. We will always encourage members to help us monitor these situations too and we may have to add a few more mods to help out.

I really don't understand why most forum have rules... they don't uphold them for the most part. We are adamant about following the rules here.

Welcome, Mike!

I too am new here, and have so far been impressed with the growing comminity. There are many here that have forgotton more about this hobby than I will ever know, and they are great about answering bone-headed noob questions like mine...LOL. Like Sonnie said, as more people come on board, the occational thread troll or AV elitist is inevitable, but this forum is off to a great start!
