I would also like to add a nice 2.1 system at first and than just work my way up to a 7.1. I will to spend a lot on a reciever and about 400, maybe even a little more per speaker. What would guys suggest?

Do you have enough cash to get a home theater receiver right now? The Onkyo TX SR805 or 705 is a great start and gives you a pure direct mode for two channel listening as well.

I sure do, but what will I get out of a receiver and no speakers? Keep in mind I am in college and my money fluctuates...So I will building this home theater piece by piece.
