Hello from S. Cal

I've been into Stereo Hi Fi for nearly 40 years back where we did a lot building our own speakers and McIntosh was king. Anyone here ever met Davy O'Brien. The big deal was matching components to get just the right combination for the best sound. My current stereo system includes Audio Research amp and preamp, Marrantz CD/DVD player, Rotel AM/FM tuner and Ariel 7A L/R speakers with an unused Ariel CC3 center channel. I am interested in upgrading to home theater but, to date, have not decided on which components. My first thought is to start with a 5.1/7.1 processor an begin with three channel and than later add the rears.
