Product Description The DS-A2x comes with an on-screen display mode (OSD) that enables you to view track lists, artists, albums, songs, genres, composers on your connected display for easy selection and navigation. If you have long lists on your iPod, you can use four page modes, Large, Medium, Small and Page, to move through the list in progressively larger steps. You'll have absolutely no need to handle your iPod while it's sitting in the DS-A2x as it comes with its own remote controller to control all basic playback functions. The remote controller also brings one-touch control for random shuffle playback over songs or albums, a resume function that will return to the track being played when the iPod is stopped or removed from the Dock and a repeat function for one track or all. You can also switch off the OSD to enjoy video playback via the DS-A2x's composite video output. View photos as a slide show over the larger display of your TV or enjoy viewing your photos over you computer display. Performs as advertised July 12, 2008 After initially getting to grips with the user interface it does what it says its supposed to. I found it a little difficult to use the onkyo receiver remote to control it. The instruction book wasn't very clear either on how to link the dock to your receiver remote but the small dock remote works just fine. And yes the on screen display is somewhat dated but most of the time I play my music with the tv off anyway. The music quality is great and I am quite happy with the purchase. My wife is listening to some jazz right now on our home theater while reading a book so its already being put to use.
I bought this ...and like it. June 26, 2008 I like the iPod dock overall. It's easy to use and the remote works well. It's not quite as intuitive with the controls as I would like. For example, you have to hit "MENU" to go up a level. And "SELECT" to play something. You can't just hit the play button.
The on-screen display is black and white, like the old PONG games of the 70's. I expected it to have the same iPod screen look. But that aside it does a good job.
Poor product design June 24, 2008 I took a chance on this even after reading about the ugly on screen displays. And they are unattractive to look at compared with the elegant interface of Apple TV. The reason I returned it was that if you want to view your photos, slide shows, videos, TV shows and podcasts there is no on screen display! They refer you back to your iPod to manually select them. This makes the entire product null and void for anyone who does more than listen to iPod music files. It's an attractive dock but they need to go back and get it fully functional.
FANTASTIC PRODUCT!!!!! June 4, 2008 Don't waste your money on a CD player, buy this and have endless amounts of music without taking up space in your living room with bulky CD racks. Easy to use.
Buy it!!!
Nifty little dock June 1, 2008 This iPod dock is pretty cool. I agree with others that the video menu interface and remote could use some work, but its easy enough to just select videos and movies directly from the iPod screen. It's really nice to watch tv episodes and movies I downloaded from iTunes on my big LCD. That is what I bought it for, so it works perfectly for me.
