Automatic switching works perfect November 21, 2008 J. Lucas My main concern from other reviews would be whether automatic switching would work. br / br /I only have two devices: A LG BD300 Blue Ray Player with Netflix streaming, and a DishNetwork HD DVR Receiver that inputs to a Sony HD 36" Tube TV. br / br /To get the devices to switch, I turn on the LX BD300 to switch to that device. To switch to the DishNetwork receiver, I simply turn off the LX BD300. This is how switching works for me. br / br /If I get another device, I will have to experiment further. br / br /Also, the switch works easy and flawlessly. I just connected the cables. br / br /Cables I used: "2 Meter (6.6 ft) HDMI KING Gold Plated v1.3 HDMI to HDMI Cable with Ferrite Cores"
Didn't work for me.... November 14, 2008 Pessex (Fairfield, CT USA) I purchased this to use with a Samsung LN-S4692D television (46" LCD, two HDMI inputs), since I had 3 boxes I wanted to hookup to the TV using HDMI (cable box, DVD player, TiVo HD). br / br /Unfortunately, it just wouldn't work properly with my TV. I could get the TV to see the Terk if the TV was already set to the appropriate HDMI input when I turned it on, but as soon as I started cycling through the TV inputs the Terk would disappear (my TV doesn't "cycle" through an input if it doesn't detect that a cable is attached to it). br / br /I tried all sorts of techniques to see if I couldn't get this to work, but nothing did. Terk's customer service was absolutely useless. It took three emails to get a response, and then that was a "canned" response. br / br /I'm afraid I can't recommend this product.
Only works with some devices November 8, 2008 Tom Santos (San Jose, CA USA) I only use the switcher in manual mode and I can't get it to work with half of my devices. It works with my Comcast DVR and my Roku box but it *doesn't* work with my AppleTV and my new Toshiba Blu-ray player. For the price, I expect the unit to be able to work with all of my devices. I do not recommend this device.
Super Deal October 27, 2008 Gary W. Meek (Lake Charles, LA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Well I guess I can begin by asking why they Call BEST BUY, Best Buy? Amazon's price was $36 and BB's price was $99. The Switch did not work well in the auto-detect mode. But I am so happy not to have to switch cables between pieces of equipment. That manually switching them at a touch of my finger is not a big deal.
Good quality device October 22, 2008 S8472 (VA) First if you are looking for a wonder box that will do everything under the sun for you, then you will have to pay a little more than $50. I simply wanted a switch that would allow my one input DVI TV to have multiple HDMI devices without having to unplug the PS3 and plug up the HD DVR and vice versa. br /This device clearly states in the manual that it will automatically switch to the newest detected input. So if you have your HD receiver on, and turn on the PS3, it will detect the newest input (PS3) and switch. So at this point if you want to watch the HD receiver again, you will have to turn off the receiver and back on again or get off your duff, and go hit the manual input switching button. Or you can spend a $100 and get one with a remote. I'm actually glad that it has this manual button incase of problems in the future. If it does not switch properly then your device is probably not HDCP compliant. br / br /As one previous review stated, lights on top are very bright, but doesn't really bother me. I have it pushed way to the back of my HD receiver. br / br /Comes with a mounting bracket that is already attached with rubber feet on bottom so it will not slide when it is laying on your whatever. br / br /Picture quality is no different then not using it.
