| Editorial Reviews:
Product Description This Pioneer Bookshelf Speaker System features a pair of speakers with Bass-Reflex enclosures, a type of speaker enclosure that includes a "tuned" port to increase and extend bass response (by releasing some of the energy created by the inward movement of the woofer cone). Bass reflex designs are more power-efficient than acoustic suspension designs. They will play louder than acoustic suspension speakers when driven with the same amplifier power. These speakers have a wide frequency response that can even handle the latest in high-resolution music, SACD and DVD Audio.

Used for rear suround January 26, 2007 Andrew R. Goldberg (Boston, MA) I use these for rear suround. They are great for this purpose. Not sure how they would work out as mains, but not bad for the price.
A good buy on a budget December 15, 2006 Jeremy D. Burman (Greenville, SC) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I have been using these speakers in my bedroom for about a month now. I currently have them amplified via the Multiroom speaker out on a Marantz SR5500 in another room. I would consider the speakers fully broken in now, and overall, I am quite pleased. They are not the prettiest pair of bookshelf speakers out there, but at lower listening levels they provide good clarity and range. I even listen to Super Audio CDs with these, and do not have anything to complain about given what they cost. These speakers can also handle some pretty loud sound levels, although highs begin to break up a bit and sound harsh. The bass that they put out at higher levels will thump your floor though. I would recommend these speakers to anyone looking for a good bargain on bookshelf speakers without sacrificing too much quality and who also isn't overly worried about aesthetics.
