Product description
In celebration of iBlade Runner/i's 25th anniversary, director Ridley Scott has gone back into post production to create the long-awaited definitive new version. iBlade Runner: The Final Cut/i, spectacularly restored and remastered from original elements and scanned at 4K resolution, will contain never-before-seen added/extended scenes, added lines, new and improved special effects, director and filmmaker commentary, an all-new 5.1 Dolby Digital audio track and more. Harrison Ford, Rutger Hauer, Edward James Olmos, Joanna Cassidy, Sean Young, and Daryl Hannah are among some 80 stars, filmmakers and others who participate in the extensive bonus features. Among the bonus material highlights is iDangerous Days/i, a brand new, three-and-a-half-hour documentary by award-winning DVD producer Charles de Lauzirika, with an extensive look into every aspect of the film: its literary genesis, its challenging production and its controversial legacy. iThe/i definitive documentary to accompany ithe/i definitive film version.p p bDisc One/bbr RIDLEY SCOTT'S ALL-NEW "FINAL CUT" VERSION OF THE FILMbr Restored and remastered with added extended scenes, added lines, new and cleaner special effects and all new 5.1 Dolby Digital Audio. Cast, crew, critics and colleagues give a behind-the-scenes, in-depth look at the film -- from its literary roots and inception through casting, production, visuals and special effects to its controversial legacy and place in Hollywood history.p bDisc Three /bbr 1982 THEATRICAL VERSIONbr This is the version that introduced U.S. movie-going audiences to a revolutionary film with a new and excitingly provocative vision of the near-future. It contains Deckard/Harrison Ford's character narration and has Deckard and Rachel's (Sean Young) "happy ending" escape scene.p 1982 INTERNATIONAL VERSIONbr Also used on U.S. home video, laserdisc and cable releases up to 1992. 4 out of 5 stars amost perfect   January 9, 2009
Steven Leventant (New York, USA)
This is the best remastered copy of the Sci-Fi classic that I have seen. The blue ray version is worth every penny, the details come through and have surprised me many times. The Five Disc are nicely done with multiple different versions of the film.

5 out of 5 stars Blade Runner (Five disc complete collector's edition) in Blu-ray.   January 9, 2009
Harry Mccarthy (Salt Lake City, Utah)
I have enjoyed this collector's edition very much. I like the fact that it contains all versions of the movie. After viewing all of the versions I have decided that I still like the original version best. I know that it may sound silly but I like the original narration. I think that some of the narration, especially at the end was quite good. Makes a person think about his/her own mortallity.

2 out of 5 stars Serious production quality issues   January 8, 2009

I'm on my 4th attempt to get a playable copy of this product. The first three times I received my order, the main wide-screen, original theatrical version of the film had scratched areas on the surface that made the disc unplayable. I didn't even bother to check the rest of the disks. The abrasions have to be occurring either in the manufacturing or packing process, because all of the disks in the set arrive properly seated in their case. Buyer beware!

1 out of 5 stars Manufacturing problem?   January 7, 2009
Mark Dilullo (Woodstock, N.Y.)
Like quite a few others I received this set with the primary 1st disc being in fact a duplicate of the 5th disc which is just a workcut of the film. Amazon quickly sent me a replacement. But that set has the same issue. Disc one has different and correct artwork so it appears the manufacturer had some issues when they printed these discs and there are a glut of them out there. I sent Amazon another e mail to see how to proceed and don't know how that will go since they apparently won't do a refund for this order and a third replacement seems likely to offer the same problems. But buyer beware if you are planning to pick this set up through Amazon right now. Not sure if other retailers are having the same issue also.

1 out of 5 stars Amazon still selling the defective sets   January 7, 2009
harmonious1 (Cleveland, OH)
I purchased this set from Amazon on Dec. 10, 2008 and it is the defective set mentioned in other reviews. Disc 1 is labeled as "Final Cut" but it's actually a duplicate of the disc 5 Work Print. Why is Amazon still selling these defective sets when this is a known issue? Very disappointed....
