Larger than my old Sony but I guess it has to be for how many inputs are on the back. Plenty of power for my vr2 speakers, only using a 5 speaker surround and the sub and surround speakers are cheap (but the sound is good).

Just so you know. . . my home theater system includes: a Sony 51-inch WEGA high-definition TV, a Sony STR-DG910 7.1-channel home theater receiver, a Sony DVP-NS77H upscaling DVD player, a pair of Sony SSF-5000 floor speakers, one Sony SSC-N5000 center channel speaker, one Sony SA-W2500 150-watt subwoofer, and a pair of Sony SSB-1000 bookshelf speakers for the surrounds. Everything is Sony. Everything works with one remote control, which came with the receiver. (My review is based on these components being used together, which is why I'm including all this info.)
The Sony STR-DG910 7.1-channel home theater receiver is amazing!!! I purchased this receiver to replace a 20-year-old Pioneer amp, and I am impressed with everything except its volume. It's definitely not earth-shaking. In fact, it's not very loud at all. First, kudos to J&R for quick delivery, and the receiver was boxed well and arrived in perfect condition. Hooking up everything was quite easy. Inputs and outputs are clearly labeled. If you use heavy-gauge speaker wire - and I use 12-gauge - then speaker connection is somewhat of a chore. Once everything is connected, however, receiver set-up is, bluntly, time-consuming (but in a good way). There are a lot of bells and whistles. You will definitely need to read the instruction manual. Let me say that again: READ THE MANUAL!! You will need to spend a couple hours (at least!) to set up your entire home theater system and tweak everything to your satisfaction. Most of this time will be spent adjusting the speaker settings. You should watch several movies (or listen to several CDs) while toying with the settings, and there are settings and adjustments for EVERYTHING!!! I would have liked more EQ control, though, which is my only real complaint. The three HDMI inputs are a great feature. The remote control is average, no backlighting, and clunky. As I already noted, I expected earth-shaking volume, but this receiver is not very loud. Still, this receiver is worth the money and I rate it four stars - would have been five if it had been earth-shaking. I hope this review helps you.

Wow, have to say I am quite impressed with this Sony STR DG910 home theater receiver. I decided to upgrade from my Sony STR DE997, which, even though had more watts per channel than this model, it did not have any HDMI inputs. Plus, this model has a better remote.
I got this receiver for $367 bucks with free shipping from Amazon! An exceptional deal given the features on this receiver.
First off, all my home theater equipment's power is streamed through a Belkin A/V power source purifier, which I highly recommend. Secondly, set-up was a total breeze out of the box. Love having 3 HDMI inputs! And I gotta say the auto-calibration worked perfectly, my surround sound has never sounded better.
I don't consider myself an audiophile, but I do take my home theater set-up seriously and do what I can to keep up with the latest technology. With this receive I was able to get the latest in high-def digital connectivity at a very affordable price. I am completely satisfied.

Best price I could find for a 7.1 system with 3/1 HDMIs. Very easy to set up if using HDMI connections (buy the cheap $2 cables through amazon, work just as good as name brand over-priced ones), microphone automatically calibrated my polk speakers, and unit runs pretty cool. Added the optional DMport so that I could listen to my entire Ipod library. So far I think this receiver is awesome. I would recommend connecting speakers using banana clips due to receiver's screw-in style inputs.

Bought this unit to replace an older Sony 5.1 unit. Used with a Sony lcd hi-def tv and driving a pair of Polk tower speakers, plus a center channel, sub-woofer and 2 rear speakers. Plenty of power! Fairly easy setup-READ THE INSTRUCTION BOOK!! Would recommend to all!
