I bought this for listening to music and watching movies on my laptop at home. It delivers sound that is clean, clear and very crisp! It thought it even sounded slightly better than the Altec Lansing BXR1120 model I was comparing it with (they cost the same and within the budget I was willing to spend.) Both models have good frequency range but they exhibit distortion when at full volume; not at all surprising for their price level.

When I got home from the store, I immediately tested it with the Underworld movie on my laptop. The speakers picked up and delivered even the most delicate and subtle ambient sounds in the movie. When Kate Bickensale picked up a bullet casing from the ground the "zing" of metal cleary radiated and lingered from the speakers. The sound of all those fierce gun fights were simply terrific for speakers this size! And the advertized wide stereo does sound like it. Delightful!

If you like maxing out the volume of your speakers you will hear sound distortion at maximum volume with this little Philips. I dont need to though. If I wanted big power, I would have bought a more powerful speaker. Yet for its size, I am impressed at how well it produces all those rich sounds from music and movies.

There are speakers and speakers out there for every price-level, watt-level, decibel and what-have-you. But if you're only looking for something not much bigger than a pair of headphones but delivers high quality audio without costing a small fortune, you might just love this tiny Philips as I do.
