4 out of 5 stars Good Value, Solid Performer   August 12, 2008
Unit arrived at my home 10 days after order was placed. Receiver is new, was installed immediately and works great. I have not tried some of the functions. My speakers sound better.

5 out of 5 stars Yamaha Receiver Great Product   April 17, 2008
Yamaha RX-V361BL 500 Watt 5.1-Channel Home Theater Receiver I find receiver to work just fine in switching audio to DD from Pro-Logic or anyother switching needed. Menu and settings are quickly learned and much simpler than my past 2- Kenwood Receivers. Sound is percise with quite an adjustment range. Quite a piece of equipment for the price. I will buy Yamaha next time I upgrade.

Having Just bought this to replace a Sony DAV home theater system, together with Yamaha NS P440 Speaker set provides fantastic sound for everything i could want. Great high and low sound depth when listening to movies i can hear everything crystal clear.

It is fantastic to run all my products, PS3 sound, DVD player, CD player through the system. Easy to use remote control make it easy to chose different sound fields, and modes.

Together with my speaker system i couldn't be more happy. Comparing to high end AV receivers will always show that this is an entry level home theater receiver for those on a budget. And it does a fantastic job at it too. It took me month of visiting audio shops to finally select this system, and I'm so glad i did.

Remember this is an entry level Receiver, and replacing a high end system with it you will notice this fact, but for the price i doubt you'll find anything which comes close to the quality and feature set. I listened to many comparably priced receivers from Onkyo, Marantz, Denon and others, and none could match this in my opinion.

Fantastic piece of equipment with great value. A great choice for those on a tight budget looking for an AV receiver to increase their enjoyment of all thing audio.

I own and run a pro recording studio for 20 years now - www.StudioUnicorn.net so here it is -
combine this unit with the Yamaha NS-FP9500 Slim Line 6.1-Channel Speaker Package - use the extra speaker in parallel with the front or keep it as a spare -
Amazing system - you will be thrilled ! ! !

2 out of 5 stars A major downgrade   September 11, 2007

I had been using a similarly priced Yamaha HTR series unit, and compared to that this is a piece of junk. The sound is extremely muddy and distorted at any level using analog or digital inputs. The remote has even less discrete buttons than the HTR unit making it a pain to operate (though the SCENE buttons do partially make up for this).

I think I'll try a digital receiver at this price point instead. If that doesn't work out, I'll definitely pick up a Denon or another HTR.
