With its superior technology and elegant design, this speaker definitely stands out in a crowd. In the RB-61, the Exclusive Tractrix Horns technology has been refined to include improved throat geometry for a more genuine, lifelike sound. Behind the horn lies a 1-inch titanium tweeter with a large ceramic motor structure to provide a unique combination of precision, clarity and effortless power. The RB-61's front-firing port eliminates turbulence noise and makes installation into custom cabinetry a breeze. Increased baffle ribbing around the horn mouth dramatically improves acoustics across the sonic range. | Customer Reviews: Overly bright sound. Need more break-in time? December 13, 2009 Russ (Orange County, CA) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have the RB-61's in the cherry color. They look great and are built solid. They are hooked up to a Yamaha RX-797 stereo receiver which has very good specs and is advertised as being made with high-end components. I listen to classic rock, pop, smooth jazz and new-age.
The first thing I noticed about the RB-61s is the bright highs. I like to hear the higher frequencies in music, and so I usually have the treble set very high. In the case of the RB-61s, I had to turn the treble down to about "6" just so I could tolerate it. I have listened to these speaker for only about 12 hours. Up to this point I must say that they can be "tiring". The bass and mid-range is very good. The sound projects well and fills my living room with music. But the high-end can almost be annoying. It's my belief that the horn-shaped tweeter housing contributes to the harshness. I've heard that Klipsch speakers tend to require a longer break-in period than most others. For this reason, I will be patient and give them a chance. I'd give them 5 stars for their beauty and quality construction. The harshness (before break-in ?) warrants 4 stars.
Great Sound December 3, 2009 L. Hjorth (Denmark) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
They are a bit overbright in the high tones when they are new and need a break in time. When they have played for some time, the overbright sound is gone. So be patient for a little while. After the break in, you will get: Celan crisp treble with a lot of detail i the music. They can play loud with out loosing the control of the music. There is a good bass, but missing deep bass. Suppley with an active subwoofer and you have a great sound set up. They work wery well with my B&W ASW 608 sub and 14 watt Singel End tube amp.
Impecable Sound October 31, 2009 Troy A. Clifton (Georgia) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I auditioned numerous speakers before discovering Klipsch sort of by accident. It sounds overstated, but the simple truth is the rich perfect sound from these speakers exceeds anything I've ever heard. Polk, Cerwin Vega, Boston Acoustics, Infinity, Bose and many more that I or family members have owned all pale in comparison to these.
The first thing I popped in when I paired these up with my RC-52 center was Eagle Eye on BluRay. The speakers they replaced weren't bad, but the difference was startling. Every little background sound in the soundtrack is clear and distinct. Dialog that was lost before became perfectly clear. Yet with the crisp clarity there is no harsh or mechanical quality to the sound. It remains rich and full. They handle music, video games and eveything else I have given them with equal ease.
If there is a volume level at which the sound quality detiorates it exceeds my ability to tolerate. If there is a better set of spaekers in any price range I have yet to hear them. I look forward to rounding out the system with Klipsch rear surrounds and subwoofer.
