Fantastic product for a great price! March 11, 2010 Jennifer Ruggiero (Greensboro, NC) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this due to the low price and my desire to watch some DVDs I have from New Zealand that won't play on my current dvd player.
I LOVE the form factor. It is so very small and looks like a nice piece of equipment. It has blue lights on the front when it is plugged in and matches all of my other equipment.
The player is simple to set up and works well for the most part. However, when I used component cables, the image was pinkish-red. I tried two sets of cables as well as multiple component inputs on my television, but the image was still red. When I used RCA cables, the image was fine. However, I want to use my component cables. So, today I submitted a return for this product being defective.
I am going to try another one and hope for the best, as I do like how tiny this is and the affordability. I'm taking a chance and crossing my fingers!
I hope this review helps you make your decision.
UPDATE - 3/14/2010 - PLEASE SEE COMMENTS BELOW REVIEW
Thanks to Jeremy's comment on my review, he fixed the pinkish problem and I now have a perfect picture. The unit wasn't defective at all. I'm very happy! Thank you, Jeremy and iView! :)
I recommend this unit.
A very efficient product. March 6, 2010 Rachel D. Cobb I brought this dvd player, because lately I've been buy movies that were hard to find. In fact, most of them were coming from all parts of the world. I heard about getting a code-free dvd and decided to buy this one. The price was right and I felt like if it didn't work then I wouldn't be out much money, but to my surprise it holds a real good picture and all my movies play. This model is a steal and I recommend it very much.
dvd player February 8, 2010 Deborah J. Palmer perfect for my needs, plus portable so it can be moved between different rooms. also it has duel voltage which means i can use it in different countrys and it will work on different t.v compatibilities.
Compact, tidy and good value January 30, 2010 N. L. GAIN (BRADENTON, FLORIDA, US) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
For the money it's a great package. I needed a cheap, small and, most importantly, UNIVERSAL format DVD player. I use European and US formats regularly. This is no high-end piece of kit, but it does exactly what it says on the box and, as we say in England, was cheap as old chips.
Considering the Price - Good Value January 8, 2010 Old North State 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I am bothered by this "region thing" in the first place. If I buy a European DVD, I would like for any DVD player to be able to handle it. Wow, that makes so much sense, it will never happen. I understand there are ways to input a secret code in some DVD players to make them region-free, but I don't want to run the risk of messing up something that works. Now we have the iView-102DV. I must admit, the unit doesn't look like something you could drop off the shelf and expect it to work, but the price is right. I'll hand it to you, it did a great job of playing my PAL format "Spandau Ballet Live at the O2" DVD that I bought from Amazon UK, so it's good enough for me. If that DVD had been released in Region 1, I wouldn't be having this discussion right now. I expect there has been a run on these region free players since that DVD came out in the UK at the end of November. I think the player works fine even though it is progressive scan and not an upconverting model. The instructions are a little sparse, but I figured them out after several attempts. It's not going to get a lot of use due to the fact that most of the DVD's I'll be buying are available in the Region 1 format. However, if any of my higher quality DVD players bite the dust, I'll be replacing them with higher end region free units. Going back with another region 1 player would be like buying a new house but not being given the keys to the front door. Give this player a try - - and if you like 80's music, slip over to Amazon UK and get the Spandau 2009 reunion concert too.
