I owned several subs in the past and after multiple test this Polk sub 4000 is simple the best if you have a medium size room. I have mine in a 20 x 20 room and it fills it with very smooth, tight and not boomy bass. I hear and feel now low frequencies that I was not aware they exist. This is a very powerful sub but if you calibrate it properly you will get a fantastic clean sound. I tried the Micro2000 before in the same room and it didn't work very well. Just too small. The mic works very well based on your sitting location. This sub also balance very well with the Polk LSI series. They are the perfect match.

The first unit delivered by UPS was heavily damaged. The outer cardboard was crushed and the inner Styrofoam was pulverized. I had to refuse delivery. Polk really should package this unit with sturdier materials.
The second unit showed up in good condition. The box still showed some damage but the unit showed no visible damage.
The addition of this subwoofer completes my new home audio setup, in addition to an Onkyo TX-SR876 receiver, 2 Polk RTI A9 fronts, a Polk CSI A6 center, and 2 pairs of Polk FXI A6 surrounds. I held off on getting the sub for a while because the fronts alraedy put out a lot of bass, even more than the Velodyne sub I was replacing. I didn't think it could get much lower.
This sub proved me wrong. Wow. The entire room shook as the sub auto-calibrated. I popped in the Transformers Blu-ray to demo. I could *feel* the difference in bass during the action scenes. Other movies I've tested have been equally exciting.
In addition to great sound, the sub has some nice feature like the auto-calibration and the auto-shutoff. It's also a very nice looking product too.

This is by far the best subwoofer that I have ever heard. I picked this up because my old Verwin Vega 12" wasn't doing it for me anymore, and my Polk RT20P towers needed something to provide a matching bass with. Let me just say that this is much smaller than my old 12" but pushes out six times as much power, RMS. How often do you hear of subs in this price range being rated in Horsepower??? I decided to do a bass test, just to see what this beast could do. At half volume on the sub, receiver set at -2.0 db, when this one hits below about 20 hz all hell breaks loose! I literally had this pushing itself off the floor due to the 12"x12" radiator on the bottom. If you are looking for the best subwoofer that you can buy, I highly recommend this one! Not only is it powerful, but it is very stylish and has a beautiful piano black gloss finish all around. Find a sub that can hit 16 hz, with this finish, that is this small, and other companies would be charging twice as much!

It is stunning the amount of clean, powerful bass this little cube pushes out! It has the ability to set not only the volume, but the phase (0,90,180,270), and has a room optimizer. The bass is powerful and very clear. It is also a furniture-quality piece. Very nice presentation. My wife doesn't mind it's presence in the living room.
Highly recommend this small but powerful sub!
