One could never fault this remarkable vocalist for not daring to take chances with her music catalogue and expand her craft as a vocalist.
This impressive artist remains the true vocal barometer for all singers to measure themselves against.

I have not bought a Barbra cd for sometime and I was anxious to hear this one because Diana Krall was producing it. I am disappointed. I was looking to hear a much larger variety of music. Every track was the same (too slow), I wanted to hear something much livelier. The quartet cd has a bit more life.

Barbra has the best voice ever recorded. She can sing anything. But something happened on this recording. And I think it was Diana Krall's production. I can always get into a recording by Barbra, but where is she in this recording? I can normally listen to her over and over, but this is the one and only recording I will only be able to listen to a few times, then remove it from my player and file it under 'won't play again'. Where is the excitement, the beauty, the Icon? I was bored and that is something I thought I would never say about Barbra. Even the most familiar songs she covers, I found myself bored and thinking to myself how the production of them just did not work. I give her 5 stars for all of her past work, but this one just isn't Barbra. Sorry, but I was surprised to find something by Barbra that I couldn't love and I didn't even listen to the second disc on the deluxe edition which are the same songs with just a quartet. Barbra is too good to be listened to in that style.
