We wanted an 'easy to go around corners' machine and the DC25 ball does this brilliantly.
We almost bought the DC24 (cheaper). Only at the last minute, reading the specifications, did we notice it had lower power and we opted for the DC25.
However, when we saw the DC24 in a shop, only then did we appreciate how tiny (short) it is and this would not have suited us. Good for some. Not for others, perhaps.
A mention of this point - or a photo against a human being - would have been helpful. We nearly made the wrong choice based on price difference alone. The DC24 looks like a toy or display model although, clearly, it is not.

Well, imagine you have been using a broom all you life and then you use a vaccum cleaner. That is the order of difference between other vaccum cleaners and dyson. its expensive but also value for money.

these dysons have come a long way since i used to see them lined up at the tip.
loads better made and the electronic brushes at the front are excellent. its like having been swept with a yard brush.
said i would never by one as they are too much money but she persuaded me and i have to say you get what you pay for.

Bought the Dyson DC25 after our old one got past it's best, we had had it for about 12 years.My wife had always said the old one was too heavy and was difficult to clean the stairs.But this one is lighter and with a longer hose it is perfect and with the ball it makes carpets a breeze , the suction is far better and the tool storage is better placed than on the earlier model.Amazon's price was the best we could find and delivery was spot on time (as usual).All in all very pleased with purchase.

Dyson DC24 All Floors Ultra-lightweight Dyson Ball Upright Vacuum Cleaner I decided to invest in a Dyson DC-24 as I wanted a smaller vacuum cleaner for my small house, and one that would be manouverable and lightweight to lift, without compromising on cleaning ability. I also had to get a cleaner that was quiet - my old one was like a jet fighter going low overhead and the cat used to run for her life with the noise of the machine. I was not disappointed with the Dyson - nice and quiet to use (the cat doesn't get so freaked out when it is switched on), and the design is thoughtful, ingenious and seems robust. Everything is easy to get at and release, and all fit together easily and smoothly with a satisfying 'click'. I had read that suction power was not compromised in spite of its smaller design and this is indeed true - it does a very nice (quiet) job of cleaning the carpets - and floors - and even manages to pick up infuriating threads and sock fluff that my old vacuum cleaner refused to lift. An easily accessible button switches on and off the brush head as desired for carpets/floors and the brush head is very responsive to starting/stopping.
A nice surprise was that the cable seems to be a bit longer than the cable of my old machine, which is makes for more convenience, and less having to move the plug to a nearer power point.
I will be sticking to Dyson from now on - it is definitely worth the extra price you have to pay for such brilliant design and technology. They don't give you many tools with the cleaner - but I will be purchasing more (soft dusting brush, hard brush and flexible extending crevice tool) - all a bit pricey of course but well designed for the job, and I think the old adage comes into play here: "You get what you pay for!
All in all, wonderful technology, does the job well and easily and definitely worth the hefty price tag in my opinion.
Dyson has another convert!
