 Great buy but many fault ones about March 8, 2010

Firstly I'll start by saying this is an amazing torch, it's very powerful for it's size, brighter than a 3D cell LED maglite, and it's only a fraction of the size.
Amazing build quality generally, however from what I've read there are a few faulty ones about, mine is one of them.
It only gets 4 stars because mine has a slight fault in the tail cap on/off switch which sometimes means it either won't turn off, or turns itself back on for no reason, this causes the batteries to get a lot of extra use, so i get more like 20/30 hours from the torch instead of the rated. Also as the LED isn't regulated like some other LED torches it doesn't stay super bright for the entire lifetime of the batteries, after about 2/3 hours it's down to about 75% output but then it stays at that for at least another 6 hours before dropping to about 60% (this is still brighter than any big 2D cell maglite which is using new batteries.
The LED lenser lenses are no gimmick, they really work well, the bright white light from this torch is throw a long distance cutting through fog and anything else in its path.
Overall still gets 4 stars as it's very well built, super bright and really very compact. I've clearly just got one of the rare faultly ones so don't be put off!!
I own other LED lenser torches and it's an amazing make, very well built stuff.
Now I'm gonna go buy myself a Led Lenser head torch for camping.

You probably won't find a brighter torch than this, but daylight it isn't, and it quickly uses up batteries, even Duracells. Extremely well made and ideal for even small pockets. I use it every day, but it really needs rechargeable batteries to be truly economic. I wouldn't use any other torch now. DO NOT SHINE INTO SOMEONE'S EYES, is is so bright it is painful and I would imagine the beam would damage one's sight.

We wanted a torch to keep in the car to light our way in the event of a breakdown after dark.
This is an excellent product; it's compact, bright (incredibly so for its size) and the facility to change focus from spot to a broad "wash" by twisting the top works well.
