iDelta Farce/i takes its cue from John Kerry's ill-advised 2006 joke to university students that they should get a good education lest they wind up in Iraq. Case in point, Larry (Larry the Cable Guy), Bill (Bill Engvall, Larry's iBlue Collar Comedy/i costar), and Everett (D.J. Qualls, geek first class from RoadTrip), who take respite from their failed relationships, jobs, and lives in their once-a-month stint as "weekend warriors" in the Army Reserve. iDelta Farce/i's one great inspiration was to literally drop these clueless sad sacks into Mexico instead of Fallujah. After much confusion, they become the not-so-magnificent three, helping besieged villagers fend off a gang of bandits led by the dread Carlos Santana (insert your own guitarist jokes). iDelta Farce/i belongs to a mostly proud tradition of morale-building military misfit comedies, but it ranks closer to iErnest in the Army/i or Pauly Shore's iIn the Army Now/i than to iBuck Privates/i or iStripes/i. iDelta Farce/i, dedicated to "the real men and women" who are serving our country, has no political agenda. It is content to engage in name-calling ("carpet-flyers" and "turds" are two we can print here), broad slapstick, decidedly un-PC ethnic stereotypes and epithets ("retarded" is used as a punchline on several occasions), and the occasional gross-out gag (the always reliable urine-in-a-canteen bit). The usually menacing Danny Trejo (iCon Air/i) steals the film outright (which in this case is petty theft) as the karaoke-singing Carlos. But for Larry the Cable guy fans, and those who miss the sophisticated good ol' boy humor of iSmokey and the Bandit/i (whose theme song is to this movie what Wagner's "Flight of the Valkyries" was to iApocalypse Now/i), iDelta Farce/i may just "git r done." i--Donald Liebenson/i

Put a copy in the Bush presidential library as part of an exhibit of the great cultural contributions of his supporters. See the book, "Just How Stupid Are We?: Facing the Truth About the American Voter" by Rick Shenkman. Zero stars. br / br /

Terrible, terrible film all around. Nary a laugh to be found and I've read better stories on bubblegum wrappers. br / br /The best thing about this DVD is a 7 minute bonus interview with the enigmatic Danny Trejo. Sadly this little bit does not justify purchase/rental/free view on a bus station television.

2 out of 5 stars Avoid This One   July 16, 2008

Delta Farce br /After the comic shows that Larry the Cable guy was apart of, we can expect to see a lot more movies like this. I never really wanted to watch one of these movies as I figured they wouldn't be worth it. I was right. This movie isn't one of the worst I've seen, but it's still well below average. br / br /Bill, Larry, and Everett work for the army on the weekends. They never do anything but hang around the station by themselves. One day a Sergeant needs them to go into battle in Iraq. They are almost killed in training before they are put into a plane. They end up napping in the back of the plane and accidentally are ejected from the plane. They end up falling in what they think is Iraq. You soon discover that they have landed in Mexico. The Sergeant seems to have died and they need to survive. They make their way to a local city and fight off what they think are terrorists. They do turn out to be terrorists, but only on the small Mexican city. They become heroes and are expected to fend off any other attacks. br / br /Bill is the same character he is in real life. He is just a normal guy. Larry is a toned down version of what you see on television. Larry actually acts like the sane one in the group and is the guy who gets the girl. Everett is a trigger-happy man. He is usually the man to mess things up for everyone. Everett is really the only character with something interesting about him. The Sergeant is just an over acting monster that isn't really as funny as you'd want. br / br /The movie itself isn't all that funny. Some parts here and there are amusing, but nothing really funny. The extras aren't that great either; they only contain commentary and some making of stuff. The extras don't make up for this lacking film. Avoid this one next time you are searching for a movie.

Boring, boring. The best scenes were the ones that they show as a preview. Also, I could not stand the skinny guy. Just not funny.
