| Editorial Reviews:
Amazon.com New Age music, ambient electronica, and spiritualized hip-hop received their first major, K-Tel-like treatment in 1996 when Virgin Records assembled IPure Moods/I. The "As Seen on TV" compilation quickly became a hot seller, and it would be nice to think that its popularity has as much to do with the music as the marketing. To be sure, IPure Moods/I offers genre hits aplenty: from Enya's "Orinoco Flow" to "Sadness" from Enigma; from a dance mix of the "X-Files Theme" to edits of vintage electronica from Mike Oldfield (ITubular Bells/I) and Jean Michele Jarre (IOxygene/I). Beyond other selections of beat-enhanced chants and a few other popular themes ("The Mission," "Twin Peaks"), the album, refreshingly, also includes a few selections noteworthy only for their originality and quality. A three-track section near end of the 70-minute disk features affecting soft African chants from Geoffrey Oryema, followed by "My Wife with Champagne Shoulders," a dollop of regal, faintly ethereal romanticism from master film scorer Mark Isham, then a robust piano workout, "The Promise" from Michael Nyman (IThe Piano/I). With so many elements of interest on its 17 tracks, the album's broad diversity is sure to have broad popularity. I--Terry Wood/I

This pure moods will surely take you to another dimension July 2, 2008 Alexandria Ridler (Norfolk Virginia United States) I first heard of this cd when it was first advertised on tv in the 90's but honestly thought nothing of buying it. However in 2001 I happened to spot this cd when I was stationed in Japan and am happy to have spent my money on this cd. Due to the variety of the songs I feel that this cd is good to listen to at work , when you are spending time with your loved ones, and relaxing and nurturing yourself when you are alone. Some of the notable tracks that really stand out in a positive way for me are br / br /"return to innocence" by enigma br /"orinoco flow" by enya br /"sweet lullaby" by deep forest br /"tubular bells" by mike oldfield br /"sadeness" by enigma br / br /There are other good tracks on this cd that are also enjoyable. This album among the first in the pure moods collection lives up to its name in a positive way and is definitely worth purchasing.
Great Cd June 22, 2008 Ronnie Jones (Largo,Md usa) If you enjoy music from every corner of the world then this is the cd you must listen to,a collection of great music from different artist. Needless to say that each artist can hold their own, also check out the other volumes as well.
I STARTED MY NEW AGE COLLECTION AFTER I BOUGHT THIS CD. June 13, 2008 LMJ (Albuquerque, NM) I haven't looked back! Great music! Great artists! I have gone on to buy all the following Pure Moods CD's.
Purely Beautiful Sound February 27, 2008 C. Tomczak Very easy listening, surreal, and enough variety for almost anyone. Totally excellent album, and a must have for any music library.
A classic June 14, 2007 S. Kosloske (Milwaukee, WI USA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Great compilation of electronic music for it's time. A lot of depth to it, you don't get to the 5th or 6th song and start getting into what seems like "filler". br /
