2 out of 5 stars Not a good complation   March 29, 2007

If you are new to the Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem then I would suggest a complation like this to you. There are better ones out there, but this is an okay one to start with. If you are a true fan and are sick of all the complations, then DON'T get this one. Send a petition to Columbia Records demanding that they release the original LP's to CD!

5 out of 5 stars Best of all Irish Singers   August 22, 2005

The Clancy Brothers are without a doubt the best of all Irish singers, if you like Irish music, you must have this one.

5 out of 5 stars Most are live and that's a good thing   January 1, 2002

Some musicians should be hear live and some should not. The Clancy Brothers are one of those rare groups that just need to be heard live (the studio recordings are perfect too so don't get me wrong). pThere is such a personability with the Clancy Brothers to their audience. Lot of humor and nice intros to their songs. I agree that this album could have been longer than 30 minutes, but at least it is 30 minutes of very entertaining and popular Clancy Brothers music.pIt is very worth the small price you pay. Trust me!

The songs on this album are all polished gems, and a good selection of the best. This is perhaps the most cleanly listenable and universally appealing collection of their songs, and I have found even my non-celtic-music-listening friends enjoy these songs and feel the attraction of these great musicians and style of music on the very first listen. This is really a collection of some of their best-known (and here, best-sung) tunes. It is shorter than many of their other albums, but for the much smaller price, and for these fantastic songs, you can't go wrong.

The Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem are the Best! Elvis is eating their dust(in fact I should not even class them with Elvis)! I am listening to them as I write!
