Stormy Night,is still my #1 album since 1975 September 25, 2008 Charlsie Ann (Grants Pass, Oregon) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought a used 1972 Camaro Rally Sport in 1975. The 8-track playing during my test drive was "Stormy Night". I think I was actually "vibrating" from hearing that thrilling music, with the sound of thunder and rain beating down on the concrete patio outside the open door. The music coming through the sound system in that car was so awesome that I bought the car, as long as he was willing to throw-in the 8-track tape. Best car and tape I ever owned. I put hundreds of miles on that car, and a lot of trips to Lake Tahoe, just so I could listen to "Stormy Night". The tape wore out and broke years ago but I kept it anyway. I just found the new Mystic Moods CDs on this web site and immediately bought "Stormy Night", and now I want them all. br /"Stormy Weekend" must be as great as "Stormy Night", so I'm sure I won't be disappointed. What a way to "get into the mood" and feel romantic. By the way, I bought the car from Barney Luce. The license plate was "B Luce". I had to let him keep it though, which was probably a good idea since I was always feeling romantic and very cool while driving that metallic, root-beer brown Camaro, and that 8-track playing. Now, I am twice the age I was back then, and I don't have a sports car, but I still love the Mystic Moods Orchestra.
Stormy Weekend (Los Angeles) May 11, 2008 Richard L. Bartlett (Golden, CO USA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I am updating my LP's to CD's and have to have this series by the Mystic Moods Orchestra. br / br /They take movie themes, love songs, and popular melodies, play them in a full orchestra setting and dub in parts of a freak four hour thunderstorm over Los Angeles. Brad Miller included various sounds of trains to enhance the audio experience. br / br /Fine music, great effects with a real "Man and a Woman" quality. br / br /There are 17 albums listed, but the best are: br / One Stormy Night br / Night Tide br / More Than Music br / Mystic Moods of Love br / Emotions br / Stormy Weekend br / Highway One br / The Storm and The Sea br /
Great quality, Great Music, Great Memories, Great Price February 27, 2008 C. Williams (Georgia) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I just used the Amazon MP3 download facility to purchase this entire album. I was skeptical about using this facility because I am not technically savvy, and there is no refund on downloads. There is a test download feature that sold me on the process. I got the album for 8.99 and the quality and music are fantastic. My previous experience with this album was the old vinyl version, but the digital is even more fantastic. I have already created a CD from the digital download, and just as Amazon claims, there is no problem creating a CD from their MP3 downloads. I'll be going to bed listening to this CD for many nights to come. It is beautiful soothing music. And I'm sure I will be purchasing more MP3 downloads from Amazon in the weeks to come. br / br /Thanks, Amazon, for bringing back great memories at a great price.
For all of you that paid over $70 for this CD a year or more ago. January 7, 2008 David R. Hardin (Tulsa, OK) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This release has been insultingly over-priced for over 5 years. I see that one dealer is asking almost $100 for this release on CD. The word 'ridiculous' is an understatement for expecting anyone to fork over....for this, or ANY, CD! Granted, this is The Mystic Moods Orchestra's greatest piece.....but $100?? C'mon!! br / br /There is absolutely no reason anyone should ask for, or pay over $20 for this CD, just because it happens to be currently out of print!! br / br /Whoever the seller of this item is, they should be made aware that if anyone is crazy enough to pay the $100 price you are asking, you are really sticking it to someone BAD!! br / br /This is a great album, but NO CD is worth $100, even it was made of pure GOLD!!! br / br /And if you can't find this CD under $20, then wait a few more months, or a year or so, and it will be re-issued at more consumer friendly price!! br / br /Update from January 7th, 2008: Hate to say I told ya so, but this release was finally found in abundance in an old warehouse in Florida about 6 months ago at it's original release price of $18.99! br / br /I'm now thinking about all of you gullible suckers out there that paid over $70 for this CD and laughing so hard it brings tears to my eyes and a big hole in the carpet from rolling on the floor!!! Problem now is, I need my carpet repaired! HA!! HA!!! HA!!!! (man, but it is SO worth it!)
Beautiful and Soothing November 11, 2007 Bill Kuffrey (San Diego, CA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I've listened to the Mystic Moods Orchestra since they produced their first albums on LP vinyl many years ago. I still have about 5 of their albums in storage. I was very pleased to find that most of their work has been re-released on CD. I now have One Stormy Night, Stormy Weekend and Nighttide on CD and plan to purchase more through Amazon until I have the complete collection. Absolutely the most beautiful and soothing sounds I've ever heard. So realistic....it puts you right there where it's happening.
