Great looking movie and fantastic in HD!!! September 13, 2008 L. Cromwell (Montana) This movie is really good, and seeing it in superior HD makes it even more enjoyable. The DC of the movie is just more blood and guts, so I can't say its superior to anything the regular version has to offer...minus the visuals of course. I have to say though the movie experience that comes with this movie which is not available in the bluray version is fantastic. Again, its interesting how 8 months after bluray bought out Warner Bros. they still don't have all the features and niceidies that HDDVD had from day one. Still a crying shame but oh well.
The Book Was WAY Better!!! September 9, 2008 Jigsaw (Kentucky) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
We read 'Beowulf' in our English class last year, and I thought the story was pretty good. So, after we read it, me and my mom watched the movie. (She had not read the story.) It first started off pretty good, then later they added stuff they weren't supposed to like Beowulf and Grendel's mother had sex, making another son. In the story, he was supposed to kill her. At the end, Beowulf fights the dragon, but we find out the dragon is Beowulf and Grendel's mom's son. Grendel's mom LIVES! THAT'S NOT COOL!!! I would NOT recommend BEOWULF!!! p.s. I'm glad Disaster Movie made fun of this!
THE BEST MOVIE EVER!!! September 7, 2008 William Knights (Ca, USOA) This movie deserves more credit than so many people give it. True, sometimes it strays from the book (a lot), but the story is great, the casting is excellent, and the animation (yes, it's animated) sometimes makes me confused with live acting, it's so good. It's like the animation from a Shrek movie, except at LEAST twice as good. The deleted scenes aren't as good as the movie itself, but at least they are half-animated, instead of stretching a couple of sketches into a 5-10 minute scene. Overall, I'm proud to have bought what is (to me, at least) the GREATEST movie of all time.

Great visuals, but a long boring film. Bought it based off hype, won't make that mistake again.
If you can get past the strobe lights during the Grendall attack, you might like it. September 2, 2008 donalyn (Maryland) At least you may find it intriguing. As an English Lit geek, I've always wanted to see Beowulf as film. I knew it would be gory, but I told my husband that he could turn it off during the attack scenes. He wanted to go into it a little further before giving up and I'm glad we did. Besides having an old classic remade into a movie, the making of it was even more impressive. If you didn't like the actual movie, go into the extra features and see how it was made...Impressive!
