Gutwrenchingly Bad October 8, 2008 Mallory Austin (Canada) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is my first review. Ever. I had to write something after I finished losing my 8 hours. In the first place, Twilight itself was just a "fun" book for me, sheer unabashed escapism. Escape time from course readings. I felt the need to own the whole series after purchasing the first. Now I just wish I'd spent the money on groceries. Breaking Dawn is horrible for all the reasons people have listed...Shallow, one-dimensional herione, Gaping plot holes, ridiculous ponies and rainbows ending, terrible writing and etc. But what really irked me was that I got this pervading sense of the author's ego growing just as swiftly as the tragically named "Renesmee" during the books. We all know Steph Meyer is a mom. So pretty much Bella aspires to be the author's favourite person- HERSELF! Bella turns into a hot, immortal Stephanie Meyer with a cute, cuddly kid that doesn't even need diapers or midnight feedings!! Bella/Stephanie is rich! She has a hot, smart, perfect, husband and they have incredible sex! Everything's great! I snorted out loud maybe 25 times while reading this book. I can't wait until Stephanie Meyer is an old spinster.
I loved it October 6, 2008 Jessica Gingerich (Tavi, ON, CA) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
This series is a menace to society, you don't want to sleep, work, or anything that takes you away! J. G.
A disappointment. September 26, 2008 Heather Josephine Pue (Delta, BC) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
If you're a fan of the first three books and haven't read BD yet, I'd suggest you don't. The book was such a disappointment after the first three. Bella's voice changed and the characters fell apart completely. The plot was a little over-the-top ridiculous and the book was full of copy errors. The story lost its magic; it will only ruin the rest of the series for you.
Loved it!!! September 23, 2008 Deborah Holmes 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have reread this book at least 5 times and it just gets better! Edward and Bella's wedding was so sweet and romantic, it was great send off to a new life. And what a life! I love all the Cullens and we were introduced to quite a range of different vampires from all over the world. The pacing of this book was phenomenal, I was excited and tense and happy and scared all at once, until finished reading.
Well, I liked it... September 19, 2008 Lori Rule (Ottawa) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I see a lot of negative reviews for this...I really wasn't disappointed. Aside from feeling the end was just slightly fluffy and non-confrontational (but it might have wound up being twice as long if a fight that epic was going to ensue...), I was quite content with this book. Yes, everyone got what they wanted, and that isn't always similar enough to real life...but... this is a story with vampires and werewolves and True Love... So... Doesn't it kind of fit?
