4 out of 5 stars Dubbed Version is on the way   July 23, 2008
The initial release of Gurren Lagann is going to be released as three sets one month apart. Each set will be a double disc release that is subtitled only. Starting later on in the year, or early 2009, the show will be released as a dubbed and subbed release.

The reason that this was done was to get the releases out into the marketplace faster and producing dubs takes time. This release was originally supposed to be out in February from ADV Films, but it did not happen and the rights are currently held by Bandai.

As this release was expected in February, but delayed, Bandai wanted to get this release out as quickly as possible by releasing subtitled sets only.

2 out of 5 stars NO SUBTITLE IS WORTH A DUBBED DVD PRICE!   July 22, 2008

I was quite annoyed to find this release is pure subtitle. Why would I pay the price of a dubbed DVD when you can buy subtitles for under 20 bucks?
And this seems to be an industry trend, along with the business of "Parts" where you get 2 volumes bundled together.

So look before you buy, they have made it more tricky.

The animations is great and it looks like an alright series, and I am sure subtitle enthuses will love it, but not for the money.
