From Amazon.com Power yoga "demands your attention," says instructor Rodney Yee. He leads a challenging, constantly progressing series of poses, one flowing into the next, integrating breath, movement, tension, and relaxation. The poses include Sun Salutation, standing poses, forward bends, back bends, twists, and arm balances. The first poses are fairly easy, and with each repetition of the series, Yee adds on more difficult movements, extending the series without pausing. You're encouraged to do as much of the series that fits your level, up to the entire 65-minute workout if you're an experienced yoga practitioner. Although you can begin at any level, some familiarity with yoga is recommended. The Hawaiian setting is gorgeous and inspiring. This is an excellent yoga workout that you can grow with, adding on more as you get stronger. --Joan Price

Speedy yoga July 11, 2004 Cat Mommy (VA) 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
Yeah, ok...so I'm not exactly as flexible as Rodney, but I found the pace a bit fast. This is definitely for the more advanced yoga-sters and it will give you a work out. Also, if you have a bad back or previous injury, watch out for some of the more strenuous "rolling" poses. I found it difficult to get in the breathing, which is the most important part of yoga. I like the routine though. Several of the poses are repeated so if you mess up the first one (or feel a bit wobbly), you have a chance to tighten up. By the end of the hour-long session, you will feel very relaxed and you will have earned the gallon of water you will consume. So kudos to Rodney for a great workout routine, but I may need to pause it now and then.

Has anyone else had trouble accessing the chapters on this dvd? The workout itself is great, just having technical problems. It isn't my dvd player cause other dvds work fine. Any advice?
not great yoga workout July 1, 2004 2 out of 4 found this review helpful
Not enough power to increase heart rate for a cardio / weight loss workout and a poses were not held long enough to increase strength.
Great workout! June 20, 2004 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I enjoy working out with Rodney's videos. I find them solid and well balanced. Lots of variety of postures and good flow overall. I mix this workout with Mark Blanchard's Progressive Power Yoga series throughout the month. While my wife and I prefer Mark Blanchard's instruction more than Rodney, we both agree that Rodney is a great instructor and make sure to use his workouts for variety. Lots of downward dogs and flowing postures. Not for the weak of heart. We heartily endorse this dvd and believe that everyone can benefit from power yoga...you just need to unroll the mat and give it a try.... then you are hooked.
I love you Rodney! May 24, 2004 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This tape really cheers me up! I love watching Rodney Yee and his incredible physique (accentuated by skintight blue hot pants) go through this routine...What a great way to start the morning! The practice gos from basic,to intermediate,to some more advanced asanas..(backbends,warrior 3,standing splits)Rodny also explains everything in a very soothing voice, the music and scenery are great (great production value) and I believe it is a must have for any practioner..PS-The fact that Rodney explains the breathing (inhale, exhale) while he does the postures is a plus(yoga IS about focusing on the breath after all)Many tapes dont do this...If you buy one yoga tape buy this one,I am almost positive you will appreciate it..
