Editorial Reviews:

From Amazon.com
If you're envying the six-pack abs on Jillian Michaels, trainer from NBC's The Biggest Loser and self-proclaimed "TV's toughest fitness guru," look no further than her Shape-Up Backside exercise DVD for an intense high-impact workout. Michaels keeps your body moving (though she herself skips out on half the exercises) with hammer curls, oblique raises, step ups, planks, and a move called The Superman destined to tone your back, biceps glutes, hamstrings and abs. There's a lower-level option, but Michaels likes to "kick your butt," as she says, to get you to feel the burn. Shape-Up Backside's DVD features include printable diet/exercise logs, nutrition tips and recipes. It requires two props: a bench-style exercise step and light dumbbells, which may make it difficult for beginners. But if you give it a try, even in the comfort of your living room you'll think you're in a gym -- trainer yelling in your ear and all. -- Ellen A. Kim

1 out of 5 stars Horrible!   July 26, 2007

Okay, anyone who truly wants a workout, do NOT buy this DVD! (Cardio Kickbox) This was ridiculous. It was only like 15-20 minutes and I didn't break a sweat at all. She doesn't count to music or keep you moving at all. And she's so into herself and her "crew", and too busy giggling to keep you motivated at all. She repeatedly says before the workout how difficult it's going to be, so I was expected to get my butt kicked. I was extremely disappointed. Do not waste your money! I'm sticking with my Billy Blanks Taebo videos.

I have never done a work out video before this one (Shape up - backside). Jillian is awesome. It really makes you sweat, your muscles burn, and her encouragment makes you want to keep going. I do recommend this to anyone wanting to fit a little exercize into their day. I've only been doing it for a couple of weeks, I have yet to SEE results, but i'm already feeling better.

5 out of 5 stars If you're tired of complicated choreography   August 9, 2006

I definitely highly recommend these DVD's, my main reason being that there is absolutely NOTHING difficult about any of the moves. So if you're like me (two left feet), I would definitely consider getting these DVD's. But before you think that Ms. Michaels is easy on you I have to say that she is definitely NOT. She makes you move, move, move, but you don't get distracted thinking about whether you're moving just like the people on the DVD. I really liked the way she repeatedly encouraged her audience, but not in that smiley faced insipid way that other aerobic teachers do. Jillian Michaels talks and sounds tough, like she knows what she's talking about. Definitely makes you feel more confident in her. Overall these are great DVD's if you're looking for a quick 30 min. workout that still makes you work your butt off! Love it.

Ugh. This is awful! Jillian sounds like an 87 year old chain smoker. This drives me crazy. The workout is not bad. But really and truly not good. There is nothing fun about it and Jillian makes such a big deal about this being so insanely hard, that I was wondering when it was going to get insanely hard.
Overall, totally annoying.

4 out of 5 stars WHOA!   February 21, 2006

I have to disagree with the other reviewer.

I find the Cardio Kick Box workout - its insane. Tons of jumping jacks, jump rope, fast lunge kicks and "fast feet". She is quite motivating (I have never seen her on the biggest Loser Show) and I like to do this several times a week.

The strength trainig dvds do use a step/bench and i wasn't prepared but after one watch i was ready. Hard stuff with burpees and other 'boot camp"
stuff in between teh weights. For such short workouts they are INTENSE...and I am an expereinced workout/gym attendee!
