Good but not quite Season One good May 13, 2008 In all fairness I would give this season a 3.5. I had never seen any of this season on TV and am grateful Warner to the North has seen fit to release this VERY capable season and show.
I'm a big fan of Friends and cannot for the life of me figure out why even diehards HATE this show. It's somewhat of a generic extension of Friends but is still... Joey, a character I adore. Anyone expecting the quality of Friends with this slim new cast is a fool, that's what we call OVERexpecting to the point where the final product could never measure up.
Ok this season had a few weak spots; "Zach" (Miguel A. Núnez Jr.) for one is a total obvious "pandering" character. I found him funny at times but in general his character and urban style delivery had ZERO place in this show. Then there was a string of bad eps; Joey and the Musical, the Sex Tape, and the Bachelor Thanksgiving were BAD. Three stinkers in a row. Then there's Andrea Anders. I think she didn't have the depth of an actress that was necessary to get these scripts where they needed to be. I think she was largely competent but lacking.
The strong points outweighed the bad thankfully.. An episode which I'm told never aired called "the Critic" is VERY VERY good. The addition of "Jimmy" (Adam Goldberg) was a real coupe... his amazing "weird" energy lifted the show upon his entrance. While I thought Andrea Anders was a weaker link she has very good chemistry with Joey which helps the show be believable. Lastly, Joey, "Micheal" (Paulo Costanzo) and his mom "Gina" (Drea de Matteo) make up a very strong core that make the wheels turn even when the script is not up to standards.
All in all just a consistently funny show that had issues this season for sure and would never have risen to the level of a Friends but none the less is a good comedy.

Worth the wait May 1, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I am so glad that Warner in Canada released this DVD. I've been waiting for it since the 1st season came out 2 years ago. And let me tell you, it was worth the wait. It was great to finally see how this show comes to an end.
The shipping was faster than I expected too. I received the DVD just one day after it was released, and I live all the way down in Florida.
Thanks agian Warner in Canada for finally giving this great show a second chance, and a second DVD.
