Editorial Reviews:

From Amazon.com
From prenatal testing through colic, this comprehensive video guide ushers viewers through the same territory as its namesake book. Divided into four parts (one for each trimester and a section on baby's first three months), this three-hour, two-disc set animates Wendy, the anxious cartoon mom-to-be, and uses real patients of the book's physician authors to illustrate the various aspects of pregnancy and birth. While separating serious concerns with "Call the doctor" icons, it also includes playful bits like a list of old wives' tales and a game-show format in which Wendy is quizzed on when labor has really begun. From the mundane of shopping for baby things to the profound concerns of birth defects, gestational diabetes, and postpartum depression, almost all aspects of the process are touched upon. The last section takes parents and baby from the Apgar score through a step-by-step guide to changing diapers. Although a terrific overview, this set still can't provide the more specific information of a book. --Kimberly Heinrichs

5 out of 5 stars Very good overview of pregnancy and childbirth   May 4, 2004
My husband and I watched these DVDs at the beginning of my pregnancy and enjoyed them very much. I had been doing lots of reading so I knew most of the information but my husband felt like it gave a good overview of the crucial information you need to know. It is also presented in a clear and relaxed manner.

I find this DVD a valuable resource for expectant parents. It covers all the basics plus many practical issues not included in traditional childbirth preparation classes. The section about life at home with a new baby and adjustment to parenthood is excellent. It can be too cute at times in the cartoon segments, so concentrate on the message instead of the messenger.

I saw these excellent videos on a television special and loved what and how they taught me. Questions were answered that I wouldn't have know to ask. They use humor very well and make each series extremely enjoyable to learn from and watch. I purchased the tapes for a friend of mine who is pregnant for the first time. ALL FATHERS TO BE, MUST WATCH THIS TOO!

5 out of 5 stars A must have comprehensive quide   October 20, 2002

I was fortunate enough to see a prmotional version of this program and cannot stress enough what a wonderfully comprehensive, entertainingly produced series it is. Following several couples through their pregnancies, the program's volumes are based on the 3 trimesters, with the fourth episode dealing with the first few months at home with your newborn. Based on the book of the same name (by the same highly qualified doctors), this video series, coupled with the book, is a fantastic way to familiarize yourself with all that you need to during a pregnancy. The enormous information is presented in chronological order to your pregnancy, and most of any questions you may have are answered before you even realize you have them. The DVD is a two disk set, but there's a VHS version (4 cassettes) also being made available. As a two-time parent, I can only say that this series is a must for all first timers, as well as a fantastic refresher course for all repeaters.
