Instant Classic! November 28, 2008 Rob G (Ontario, Canada) Wall-E is easily one of the best movies I've seen in a long time. It's perfect for kids, thought-provoking for older watchers, and hilarious for everybody involved. br / br /Pixar has outdone themselves with their animation, and Wall-E is absolutely gorgeous. The titular robot is more expressive than most actors, and even without words his feelings, emotions, and thoughts are plain to see. The story is wonderful in a classic Disney way. br / br /I can't recommend this movie enough!
WALL-E November 25, 2008 D. Chandon (Toronto, Ontario Canada) I love WALL-E, which is a suprise considering I'm a very angry and cynical anti-Disney kinda person. And while I still believe that Disney is the place that all culture and art goes to die. WALL-E is a candy coated treat done in the usual Pixar sheen that has made them the premier CG animation company. WALL-E is the last of a series of robots that were put to work cleaning up Earth after years of consumption and garbage has finally caught up with the world. WALL-E is a lonely robot, who's only friend is his pet cockroach, WALL-E apparently has real soul and a knack for collecting knick-knacks, until he meets EVE and falls for her, only to have her leave aburptly with her mission complete. WALL-E stows away on her ship and discovers the last bunch of humans living on a huge ship that only helps to continue the mass laziness and consumption. br / br /While the movie deals primarily with the cute, kiddie Disney movie theme, but with the undertone of mass human consumption and a super conglomerates ruining the world, which is somewhat ironic considering Disney is very much the same as BNL (the company in the film). br / br /But overall, WALL-E is a sweet movie, not much as far as dialogue, nor does it veer that far from the formula that are these CG films, with of course some tears to be shed at the end, well there's something about likeable robots, that makes me blubber like a huge baby, like the original Transformers movie when Optimus dies. Regardless if you're a fan of Pixar or Disney get this film, and if you're a fan of robots rent this one. It's a sweet and cute movie worth at least the rental.
this Packaging is the worst I have ever seen November 21, 2008 G. Walters (Vancouver, BC) 4 out of 19 found this review helpful
This movie would easily be a 5 star rating, except for this utterly ridiculous packaging. I get it, the movie has an environmental theme, therefore the people at disney feel the packaging should reflect the movie. What Video companies seem to miss is that DVD cases are not Milk Cartons, we don't throw them away once we have used them!! This kind of packaging is ugly, flimsy useless. I am single and bought the film for myself, I pity a family with children who are quickly going to find this box ripped to shreds with the discs sitting out getting scratched ruined (maybe this is a plot to sell more product???)
As good as everyone says it is September 30, 2008 Jack Blatant (Ontario, Canada) 11 out of 12 found this review helpful
I absolutely loved this movie. As a father of three, I feel like I've been through more than my fair share of kids' movies, but I went to see this one twice in theatres. At heart, this movie is a love story: simple, sweet, and beautiful. br / br /It is true that this movie has an environmental message, but it is one of simplicity and hope rather than one that is dire and apocalyptic: the earth is ours, our home, and nothing can replace it. We need to take care of it. br / br /In a time period when even kids' movies try to appeal to audiences with a certain jaded cynicism, this movie is honest and fresh, with a wonderfully appealing main character who ties the whole film together. I'll see this movie again, more than once. Maybe the kids will join me, maybe not. :) br / br /
