After a long wait--like the entire fifth season--Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker) is dating again. The sixth season of the popular HBO show starts with Carrie and her sparkly new potential, Berger (Ron Livingston), trying to leave past relationships and hit it off. The results are mixed (up to Berger's memorable exit), but the good news is Carrie is at it again, and a new love interest can be found in the member of a wedding party, an old high school flame (David Duchovny), or an ueber-famous painter (Mikhail Baryshnikov). As Carrie plays the field, her friends seem to be settling down, relatively speaking. Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) decides that her affair with TiVo cannot compete when Mr. Perfect (Blair Underwood, at his most charming) moves into her building. Charlotte's (Kristin Davis) feelings for her "opposites attract" boyfriend (Evan Handler, perhaps fans' most-loved boyfriend) deepen, but they still have a few things to iron out. Most surprising is Samantha's (Kim Cattrall) hot relationship with waiter-actor-stud Smith Jerrod (Jason Lewis) taking on something resembling love, despite Samantha's best intentions. p Before the sixth season started in the summer of 2003, a bombshell hit: it was announced that this would be the finale. Fans, just getting over the truncated fifth season (due to half the cast getting pregnant), were beside themselves. But it would be a long season, and these 12 episodes plant the seeds for the final 8 airing the following winter. These dozen episodes illustrate the maturity of the show: there's not a bad one in the bunch, with things like old flames Mr. Big (Chris Noth), and Steve (David Eigenberg) popping in with deeper resiliency. And the show is still flat-out funny. Berger is the most intrinsically humorous of Carrie's beaus (his introduction to Prada is a classic), Jarrod's earnest streak on Samantha gets her flabbergasted in the giddiest ways, and Charlotte's attempt to convert to Judaism is right in character. The touchstone episode is "A Woman's Right to Shoes," in which Carrie loses her prized and expensive Manolo Blahniks at a party. The comedy blends serious points of how we perceive singles, couples, and parents (and the gifts we lavish on the latter two). Carrie's method of celebrating her singlehood is just another gem in this treasure of a series. I--Doug Thomas/I

I was annoyed at how they split the last season into 2 parts...do the producers really need the money? For only a few episodes, you definately don't get your what you pay for. However the show is refreshingly funny and a must own if you love SATC. The episodes are hilarious even though you can sense some sadness in the air..

WHEN ARE THEY GOING TO BRING OUT PART 2 OF SEASON SIX?! IT JUST DOESN'T MAKE SENSE TO BUY THIS WHEN YOU CAN BUY THE ENTIRE SERIES ONCE PART TWO IS OUT. YEAH WE COULD NETFLIX IT, BUT FOR THE DIEHARD FANS WHO WANT TO ENJOY CARRIE CO. FOR THE LONG HAUL, WE NEED PART 2! C'MON HBO, GIVE UP THE GOODS!

Frankly, I can't understand them putting out PART 1. At full price, no less! I'm going to wait and hope they combine them into a reasonably priced set.

Michael Patrick King's commentary on the final episode of Season Six, Part 1 (One) has the magical property of putting me to sleep. I had to restart it 6 times in one night, fast-forwarding to the last part I could remember, only to wake up a few minutes later having missed the ending again. No other form of media has ever had such a profound effect on me: not Baseball Tonight, not Jay Leno, not even Now with Bill Moyers. I think it is something about the lowered volume on the dialog coupled with the Executive Producer's soothing and sparse comments that triggers an immediate response in my brain. I encourage others to purchase this product if for no other reason to investigate this phenonmenon.

Season Six part one gives us nothing new regarding depth. This series has gotten really tired and I am glad they decided to put it to sleep. Carrie Bradshaw continues to be self important and thinks she is the only one in the world that matters. Her charecter has not matured throughout six seasons, nor has she developed any self worth. She finds spending huge amounts of money on shoes, handbags and clothing will translate to finding the one. What a sad staement on sinlges in New York if this is true. Maranda continues her I am too smart for Steve tactics and again shows how shallow she is. Charlotte is a lost soul and a perfect example of the granola type. Samatha is the only charecter that makes this show worth the time. She is witty and does not give a damn about what others think about her.
