5 out of 5 stars Different but good drama series!   June 11, 2007

Bones is a dark and amusing drama series, inspired by real-life forensic anthropologist and novelist Kathy Reichs. Forensic anthropologist Dr. Temperence Brennan, who works at the Jeffersonian Institution and writes novels as a sideline, has an uncanny ability to read clues left behind in a victim's bones. br / br /Consequently, law enforcement calls her in to assist with murder investigations when the remains are so badly decomposed, burned, or destroyed that the standard identification methods are useless. br / br /Brennan's equally brilliant colleagues at the Jeffersonian's Medico-Legal Lab include earthy and bawdy Angela Montenegro, who's created a unique way to render an original crime scene in a three-dimensional computer image; Brennan's assistant, Zack Addy, a young prodigy whose genius IQ actually gets in the way of his finishing the several doctorates he's begun; "the bug guy", Dr. Jack Hodgins, who's an expert on insects, spores and minerals, but conspiracy is his hobby; and Brennan's boss, imposing lab director Dr. Daniel Goodman. br / br /Brennan often finds herself teamed with Special Agent Seely Booth, a former Army sniper who mistrusts science and scientists when it comes to solving crimes. Brennan and Booth clash both professionally and personally, but they surprisingly make a good team to solve crimes they investigate together. br /

5 out of 5 stars Best Partnership Since The X-Files   March 4, 2007

I bought this box set when it was on sale only having heard vague things about this show. I was absolutely delighted with this purchase. David Boreanz had already demonstrated in Angel that he had a good dramatic range able to do action, comedy and drama. In Emily Deschanel he has found a superb partner in crime. This is really the best male/female partnership since the glory days of the x files. The partnership has different aspects being prickly, protective, respectful, affectionate and as with all the best tv relationships, hints of the romantic. br / br /There is also a wonderful supporting cast of "squints" all with their own eccentricities and follibles. Over the course of the season the cast gells together beautifully. br / br /What distinguishes Bones from the plethora of other murder mysteries is the relationships and the sense of humour, warmth and fun that permeates this programme. So do yourselves a favour and invest in Bones. I guarantee you will not regret it.

5 out of 5 stars "Don't call me Bones" :)   January 8, 2007

"Bones" is one of my favourite tv series. It is difficult to define it, due to the fact that it has crime, drama, mistery, and even some elements of comedy and romance. Strange, I know, but it works. br / br /The two main characters in this series are Dr. Temperance Brennan (Emily Deschanel) and Special Agent Seely Booth (David Boreanaz). Temperance Brennan is a forensic anthropologist that works at the Jeffersonian Institution, and that also happens to write whodunnits in her free time. Seely Booth works at the FBI, and used to be an Army sniper. Of course, both characters are very different, and that is probably the reason why they clash from the very first time Temperance is asked to help out in one of Booth's cases. How can an anthropologist help the FBI solve a crime? Well, the answer is in "Bones", and it is more than interesting :) br / br /All in all, I must say that this show is extremely engaging, and that I think it is getting better with time. I believe that you are highly likely to love "Bones", if you like a good thriller that has lots of action, but that also pays attention to the interaction between the characters. I must confess that I am one of those fans of "Bones" that cannot wait for the beginning of its second season, and I am pretty sure you will eagerly wait for the same thing if you watch this dvd. Recommended! br / br /Belen Alcat br / br /PS1: I forgot to tell you that I don't recommend this show for children, as some crimes scenes are more than unsettling. br / br /PS2: If any of the scriptwriters of "Bones" is reading this, I have two things to say. First, THANKS!. And secondly, wouldn't Temperance and Booth make a great couple?
