5 out of 5 stars Flight of the Bizarre Sense of Humour   June 28, 2008

This series is a fantastic example of what two guys from New Zealand with a really strange sense of humour who sing, play guitars and adjust to life in the harsh climate of New York can accomplish when they set out to create a TV show. The comedy is often dry and blunt, but these two kiwi simpletons and their collection of quirky acquaintances had me rolling on the floor laughing, and if this isn't the effect this show has on you, then you truly must not have a sense of humour.

If you enjoy this show, check out the British version of "The Office", the wonderful Irish show "Father Ted", or the Canadian show "The Newsroom" for a good time.

oh dear oh dear oh dear....only 12 episodes and they are going by far too quickly....

like a wonderful meal with complex flavours, i am trying to make this last as long as possible

happily i can then begin again, and again

wickedly clever, disarming and charming

nothing could be more refreshing

5 out of 5 stars Refreshing, Outstanding, Original and exceedingly silly   December 23, 2007

One of the funniest sitcom type shows ever filmed. I don't believe I've seen anything I could enjoy watching repeatedly this much in a long time. I will be buying several copies of this and shipping them to my family members who have been long time Monty Python fans.
This HBO series is based on two young New Zealanders (Bret and Jemaine) who move to New York and try to hit the big time with their band (of 2). They have a part time manager Murray, who holds formal band meetings at his office at the New Zealand consulate during work time, and a fanbase of 1 (Mel)(although the fanbase did fluctuate between 3 and zero). The structure of the humour is very fresh and delightfully deadpan. Each episode introduces a new song which will have you rolling on the floor.
I give this DVD 5 stars and strongly recommend you buy it and become a fan of the show.
