The Ark of Truth July 6, 2008 N. Theoret (Quebec, Canada) Excellent movie!!! br / br /I was so afraid that this movie wasn't going to be as good as the series. But no, the whole crew and actors were the best as usual. I am eagerly awaiting for the next story coming up and will reserve it to make sure I have my own copy. br / br /This is why I just love Stargate SG-1. I can always count on great entertainment. br / br /Keep it up Guys! br / br /Nicole
There Are Reasons And Ways Around Them... June 24, 2008 Andre Lieven (Ontario, Canada) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
We just got this disc for $12.50 at a WalMart store here in Canada. When it comes to the price differences between Canada and the US, well, if you're selling in the US, you will move a lot more product and you'll have to move it far shorter distances, than up here in our sparsely populated Dominion. br /Now, there are ways of managing to get US ordered products without dealing with customs and international shipping costs, but they involve a bit of work and planning. If you travel to the US, place orders with US sellers - like amazon.com - about a month before you travel, ship the order to a US friend's place where you will be (Or, to a US friend who will also come to where you are going), and carry it back to Canada with you. The duty limits are pretty lenient these days. The other way is, if you know that a US friend will be visiting you here in Canada soon, order what you want from a US seller, ship it to that friend's place, and ask them to carry it up to you here in Canada. Either way, you get the benefit of the strong Cdn. $ when buying from the US. Good luck. br /We still have to actually watch this disc, but I expect it will be fun. The 10th season certainly was, and the finale was quite surprising, in a good way.
Pretty awful May 13, 2008 Parity (Canada) 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
I'll be honest - I never liked the Ori storyline, it always felt like it moved the story from being about sci-fi to being anti-religion. It is somewhat ironic then that the conclusion of this story-line involves the removal of free will by the 'good guys' under the guise of 'revealing the truth'. 'Science must conquer religion because religion is false' regrettably remains the core conceit of modern fiction. br / br /Perhaps more importantly the comedic heart of the show was lost with Richard Dean Anderson's departure. The latitude that producers allowed him and the fun he brought to the show becomes ever more clear in his absence as things feel too scripted and much less natural. It's just not the same without him.
A disapointing ending to a great storyline April 1, 2008 P. Poirier (Montreal Qc.) 4 out of 6 found this review helpful
After season 8, with the Go'auld defeated, the Stargate people had found a new, powerful ennemy to throw at the SG-1 team.During season 8 and 9, episodes involving the ORI were among the best of the whole serie. Constant tension, a sense of danger, amzing special effects were to be expected. When an episode ended, you would say ''WOW'' and wait for the next episode with trepidation. br / So, i was waiting for that final installement with high hopes. Most of them were crushed. The tension that was at the core of the ORI storyline is gone, the emotion that was also at the core of the serie is almost absent. br / The Replicator story takes way too much place. Don't get me wrong. I love the Replicators. They are a formidable ennemy. But this is an ORI story and the Replicators take way too many screen time away. br / I wanted more Tomin, more Adria, more Morgan La Fay. I wanted Woolsey ( he could have left Atlantis for a while) not taht second rate IOA character. br / There are some fine moments in there and they all involve either Teal'c or Tomin. The scene where Teal'c explain too Tomin that he will never forgive himself is the most powerful scene of the whole film. I also loved Teal'c Quest, who after ''rising'' from the dead goes on to Celestis. I shed a tear when Vala and Tomin said goodbye towards the end. br / That said, it is not a bad film, but with the increased money and the time they had to write and produce it, it should have been way better. As it is, it is no better than a run-of-the-mill episode of the telivision show. I can think of at least 50 episodes from the show that are better than this.
Really Good Wrap-Up March 25, 2008 Mr. Shaun Hayward (Canada) 2 out of 4 found this review helpful
This movie does a fantastic job of wrapping up the Ori storyline. The writing was great, the acting was great, and thestory was great. There were a lot of good moments in this film. br / br /And the film has a lot of awesome, open shots.
