Good workout... but false advertising May 22, 2006 BC Girl (Victoria, BC) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
have completed the workout(s). On the cover, it advertises that there is a 20 min beginner workout, 20 min intermediate workout and 30 min overview. I expected 2 different workouts and I was sorely disappointed! Please be aware: the beginner and intermediate workout are *exactly the same*! The only difference is there is slightly more emphasis on Ms Brown (who is placing her hands differently- say on her hips rather than the floor). Otherwise, it was a good workout... The *only* refuge is the fact I only paid $7 for the dvd. And because of the "false advertisement" I will never buy another one of her dvds again.
Not bad.. April 25, 2006 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Not a bad workout at all. The fact that it is 20 minutes gives you no excuse not to do it. I do have a few issues with this DVD:1. The cover advertises a 20 minute beginner and 20 minute intermidiate. They are exactly the same workout. The only difference is that the camera focuses on Amy Brown as opposed to her student. 2. I know this is picky, but they both use a black mat and wear black clothing. It makes it more difficult to see what they're doing. 3. At certain point in the "intermidiate" workout, the cuing is way off.
So easy to stick with! March 29, 2006 I've been to classes before and found it hard to follow along with certain moves, so I was unsure how a video would be. I am a beginner at pilates and was pleasantly surprised with this DVD. I have already purchased more from the series. Amy has a pleasant voice and is great at demonstrating all the moves as well as reminding you of things throughout the workout such as your breathing. The more times I have done this the more I find myself being challenged as I become more aware of my breathing and movement. This is a great fitness DVD. It is so short and goes by so fast, and afterwards you feel great. This is one that is easy to stick with!
Good place to start for Pilates Newbies January 21, 2006 Mustanganna (Victoria, B.C., Canada) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The Pilates for Life DVD's aren't fancy, but you will appreciate the clear instructions and clean delivery. The instructor and her beginner sidekick are easy to follow, and offer two intensities at the same time. The first few times I did this workout I thought it was fairly 'easy,' but after I started to get all the breathing techniques right and pay attention to my muscles it began to grow in intensity. Don't worry about getting it all down in the first workout-it'll all come together eventually. I am pretty picky about fitness DVD's and this one is simple and enjoyable-and for this price, buy the whole series!
My thighs thank you! January 20, 2006 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
After less than a month of following the Pilates for Life program, I feel great and my boyfriend thinks I look fabulous!
