Arguably the series' best season to date, season 5 of i24/i literally starts with a bang and never lets up, with an intricate executive-level conspiracy to control Central Asia's oil supply. Piling crisis upon crisis in an escalating series of deceptions, twists, and deeply hidden agendas, the day-long ordeal begins with a devastating political assassination connected to a disgraced former CTU agent (Peter Weller) and a radical group of Russian separatists (led by British actor Julian Sands) threatening to release lethal nerve gas in Los Angeles to protest a U.S./Russian treaty about to be signed by President Charles Logan (Gregory Itzin). As Logan's unstable wife Martha (Jean Smart), Secret Service agent Aaron Pierce (Glenn Morshower), and chief of staff Mike Novick (Jude Ciccolella) gradually uncover the conspiracy, CTU maverick Jack Bauer (series star Kiefer Sutherland) emerges from self-imposed exile to aid his CTU colleagues in a life-threatening quest for the truth. Meanwhile, CTU chief Bill Buchanan (James Morrison) is thwarted by an inexperienced, overbearing superior (Sean Astin) and an executive takeover of CTU led by Homeland Security chief Karen Hayes (Jayne Atkinson), forcing Bauer and his CTU loyalists to "go dark" and work independently to honor the memory of a slain friend and leader. The featurettes are all well-crafted and worth a look, beginning with a "Supporting Players" profile of i24/i's extended cast (including some surprising glimpses of their off-screen hobbies and activities); a detailed documentary about i24/i's innovative and hard-working camera crew; a profile of music composer Sean Callery, who demonstrates his versatile mood-setting techniques; a detailed exploration of the "Presidential Retreat" set with production designer Jonathan Hodges and colleagues; a "100th Episode Reel" with tightly-edited clips from seasons 1-5; and a sampling of cast and crew photos from i24: Behind the Scenes/i, a picture book published in November 2006. 24 is one of the most innovative, thrilling and acclaimed drama series on television. Each episode covers one hour of real time, and the season's entire story will take place in one day (24 hours). br / br /Season five opened with Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) forced out of hiding and then becoming the most wanted man in America. br / br /The story may change, new characters may arrive and leave but one thing always stays the same... the underlying story of the show is about one man's fight to do what is right. br / br /There is a first-rate acting all around in this show. Keifer Sutherland does a marvelous job as an anti-terrorist agent. br / br /Outstanding season! Highly recommended! br / br /

24 is clearly one of the most well written shows out there. I only started to watch 24 -Season 5 last season and I got hooked right away. During the summer break, I watched all 4 seasons of 24 and I can't believe the show is full with interesting and mesmerizing characters. The storylines are very exciting and intriguing. I must admit watching the DVDs are better for the newcomers like me. This is because you don't need to wait until the next episode. That's why you should watch all the 5 seasons on DVDs before Season 6 starts. br /Season 5 is by far THE best. From the death of few well loved characters by many fans, to the dirty of politics that can easily keep you off your seat every second.So it's never too late to start watching this show. br /Of course, who needs superheroes when you have Jack Bauer to save the world. br /

I happen to be one of 24's biggest fans. Watched a few episodes and I got hooked. I can seriously say that season 5 is the best season of 24. Season 5 has everything: romance, action and so many good plot twists and characters killed to keep you watching. br / br /The plot of the season goes like this: someone close to Jack Bauer is killed which gets him out of hiding. As Jack progresses during the season and saves the world again, it turns out that someone inside the White House has been orchestrating everything, so Jack must bring him down. br / br /Brilliant plot twists keep this season alive. The main villian at the end of the season was by far the most brilliant twist the writing staff has ever done. Brilliant acting by everyone, including Sutherland, who deserved his emmy this year and Gregory Itzin as the President of the United States br / br /If you've never watched one season of 24, I urge you to watch this one, then watch all the season 1,2,3 and 4. This show deserved the emmy for best drama series this year and 24 is by far the greatest show on television and I hope it stays on the air for a good long while
