From Amazon.co.uk
iThe Crow/i set the standard for dark and violent comic-book movies (like iSpawn/i or director Alex Proyas's superior follow-up, iDark City/i), but it will forever be remembered as the film during which star Brandon Lee (son of martial arts legend Bruce Lee) was accidentally killed on the set by a loaded gun. The filmmakers were able to digitally sample what they'd captured of Lee's performance and piece together enough footage to make the film releasable. Indeed, it is probably more fascinating for that post-production story than for the tale on the screen. iThe Crow/i is appropriately cloaked in ominous expressionistic shadows, oozing urban dread and occult menace from every dank, concrete crack, but it really adds up to a simple and perfunctory tale of ritual revenge. Guided by a portentous crow (standing in for Poe's raven), Lee plays a deceased rock musician who returns from the grave to systematically torture and kill the outlandishly violent gang of hoodlums who murdered him and his fiancee the year before. The film is worth watching for its compelling visuals and genuinely nightmarish, otherworldly ambience. i--Jim Emerson/i

5 out of 5 stars There is only one Crow............,   October 26, 2007

I haven't read the comic... and when they made the movie I really didn't know it was based on a comic. Well I can tell that I've almost seen every movie with Brandon Lee playing in it... Although he only played in (mostly) action movies he played his best part in "The Crow"... I watched the movie the first time right after it was released. I've always been a big fan of Bruce Lee his father but also of Brandon Lee because he didn't want people to see him like his father. Brandon always wanted to play in a non-action movie and I know The Crow is one of those... His acting in this movie is good... I know they use a lot of CGI which is done superb. Yes, the fact that he was really killed in the movie made me see it even more. br / br /This is the ultimate movie about vengeance from beyond the grave, good versus evil, wrongs made right, and the power of love conquering all. That last line may sound straight out of a chick flick, but this movie is anything but. Eric Draven is one of the most emotionally deep characters of all time. He drives through the plot with such power and momentum, never letting the adrenaline slow. If you want to see a true artist performing a true work of art, watch Brandon Lee in The Crow. Any artist can recognize the beauty of Brandon Lee's work here. Just like his father, Brandon Lee has mastered the artless art. br / br /In addition to Brandon Lee's amazing mastery of Eric Draven, Michael Wincott is incredible as Top Dollar, the villainous leader of the gang infamous for beginning the tradition of Devil's Night. Rochelle Davis's performance as Sarah was superb, despite the fact that "The Crow" is the only movie she's ever been in. br / br /The Crow is also full of memorable scenes, and quotes. "It can't rain all the time." became a household phrase among some of my friends and anyone familiar with the scene will know why I adore "Mother is the name for God on the lips and hearts of all children." I can truthfully say that this is one of the better made films in all of the years since "The Crow" came out in 1994. It has a special magic that I sorely miss in today's movies. RIP Lee. br /

This is a Halloween story. It was just a year ago on all hollows eve that an unscrupulous group of routies did untold things to a nice coupe, resulting in the couple's death. Well the young man Eric (Brandon Lee) is back and invincible. It is time to give the routies the death wish treatment. One by one they get uniquely dispatched and in the process a mother and daughter are re-united. The local policeman (Ernie Hudson) sees dead people. br / br /Will Eric balance the books or does he find out that you can't when all the time? br / br / br / br /

This movie, starring Brandon Lee in his final role and adapted from James O'Barr's classic comics is the oringinator of two competant sequels (City of Angels and Salvation) and one that is totally trash (Wicked Prayer).brIt is a Gothic love story that shows that no matter what happens, true love is forever. Brandon Lee breathes life into the dead Eric Draven, avenger of his fiancee who was raped and murdered along with Eric.brThis is a must-see movie, and a true cult classic as far as Goth films go. Rent it, buy it, steal it from your neighbor, whatever; as long as you watch it.

The story of The Crow begins when a rock'n'roll guitarist named Eric Draven along with his fiancee,Shelly Webster were brutally murdered by T-bird's gang.brHowever, one year after their death,Eric returns from the dead and tries to find out about the murder of himself and the love of his life. The Crow is a very romantic, action, battle story fill with a great historical event that Eric, the undead hero must solve with a police officer and a young kid from the streets. This is for Dar and Tao from Sarah:Dar and Tao.Together forever.
