From Amazon.com iMy Name is Nobody/i is a spoof of spaghetti Westerns, but it's also a legitimate, highly regarded entry in the genre. Its pedigree is purebred, as it was executive produced by the maestro of spaghetti Westerns, Sergio Leone, as a personal farewell to the genre that he helped to create. It's a transitional film, cheekily acknowledging the impact of iThe Wild Bunch/i and Sam Peckinpah (whose name is seen on a gravestone in one scene) and the popularity of Terence Hill, whose comedic "Trinity" films represented the last gasp of the once-glorious spaghetti Western. All of these elements are beautifully combined in the amusing tale of Nobody (Hill), an ambitious young gunman in 1899 who idolizes a legendary gunslinger Jack Beauregard, played by Henry Fonda in his final Western (and his second for Leone, after the classic iOnce Upon a Time in the West/i). Before Beauregard can retire in peace, Nobody sets up a final showdown of epic proportions, and the great Ennio Morricone enhances the abundance of memorable scenes with one of his most playfully inventive scores (including a comical use of Wagner's "Ride of the Valkyries"). Tonino Valerii fully deserved his director's credit, but Leone also made significant contributions (including the opening scene), and the result is a delightful and surprisingly resonant film that Steven Spielberg later called his favorite Leone production. It's easy to see why: Like many of Spielberg's films, iMy Name is Nobody/i qualifies as both art iand/i entertainment. i--Jeff Shannon/i

Tick, tock July 29, 2007 David T. Mathias (Red Deer, Alberta Canada) Tick tock...the clock ticks away. The famous gunslinger Jack Beauregarde sits in the barber's chair...an assassin menacingly strops the razor as Jack leans back in the chair, eyes closed...tick, tock, tick tock...the bandit swathes on the shaving foam and sets the razor to Jack's neck...the next sound is an ominous "click" and Beauregarde has his gun cocked at the assassin's nethers. After getting a nervously smooth shave he guns down all three assassins and sets the real barber free, giving him ten whole dollars! It has the best beginning and the best ending of any of the classic "spaghetti westerns," and it is my favourite...and who is "Nobody?" Well... as the barber explains to his son who asks "Ain't nobody faster than Jack Beauregarde?": "No son, nobody is faster than Jack Beauregarde!!!"

THIS MOVIE HAS BEEN AROUND A LONG TIME ! IT'S THE FIRST (AND PROBAPLY IS THE LEAST ) OF LEONE'S EFFORTS. THE MOVIE OFFERS A NUMBER OF SIGHT GAGS , BUT NOT ENOUGH TO KEEP YOUR INTEREST UP.THE MOVIE IS TRULY SPAGETTI WESTERN. THERE ARE NUMBER OF ADVENTURE WESTERN FLICKS WITH TERRANCE HILL AND HIS MANGIE BROTHER (TERRANCE STAMP). THET EVEN WENT AS FAR AS TO FILM A MOVIE IN SOUTH AMERICA. I HAVE ALL OF THERE WESTERNS AND ALTHOUGH THIS ONE IS ONLY (SO, SO) IF YOUR A COLLECTER OF THIS TYPE MOVIE GET IT. BUT IF NOT JUST RENT IT ! IF YOU TRULY WANT TO SEE A HILARIOUS COMEDY WESTERN TRY TO FIND A COPY (RARE) OF EVIL ROY SLADE, STARRING JOHN ASTIN ,MICKY ROONEY ,MILTON BERLE , DICK SHAWN , HENRY GIBSON AND EDIE GOURME'
Best Spaghetti Western Out There! December 1, 2003 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
If you enjoy Spaghetti Westerns, then you need to sink your teeth into "Nobody". This is our family's most favorite western out there. The musical score is excellent, and Henry Fonda is absolutley wonderful! This is a quirky, unusual western, and you need to be a western fan to appreciate it. Our old VHS tape is going to get replaced by this DVD, and I am looking forward to watching it in an even better than ever format!
Thoughtfully and very detailed April 10, 2003 Christian (North Bay, Ontario Canada) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
You might say How can he be rating this movie when he doesn't own the DVD? Well I have the movie on VHS and it's a great one. pAlmost every old cowboy movie is slow paced, My name is Nobody isn't any different but it's thoughtfully and very detailed. The story is great and has a great ending. The movie is both funny and serious.. mostly serious.pOf course the soundtrack of this movie is, to my opinion still unmatched by Ennio Morricone.. very moving stuff which really ties into the old west era.pEnjoy the movie!
My Favorite Westen Comedy of All Time November 2, 2002 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This movie is far better than even Blazing Saddles. The best part is that despite the comedy it has a certain real feel to it. Terence Hill playes a young up-and-coming gun slinger who is determined to make Jack Beauregard, played by Henry Fonda, a legend. Unfortunately all Jack wants to do is retire and move to Europe. The two eventually become friends as Nobody follows Jack across the west tring to get him to take on the Wild Bunch. pAnyone who has seen a Terence Hill movie knows that they will leave you rolling on the floor laughing. Well this one is the best. Its also in enough tast that you would have no problem letting the entire family watch this one(which is rare indeed).
