Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars The survival of a people   October 1, 2007

This movie as a piece of film art is a must-see, as an historical revelation and lesson it is a must-see, and as a entertaining work of cinema it is a must-see. The story itself has to be placed on equal grounds with the importance of Schindler's List, The Pianist, Malcolm X, When the Levees Broke, Hotel Rwanda, and Roots (among others). The struggle of a people(s) to survive against severe government and societal oppression is the message of the film. Buy the dvd or rent it and appreciate what is being presented before you because although it is a film, it is also important history and still a reality for thousands of people.
