From Amazon.com If her 2002 tour really was her last--and after being "an evil frickin' diva for 40 frickin' years," as she puts it, she just might mean it--Cher has definitely left us something to remember her by. In the course of this 92-minute concert (plus loads of extra features), she wears enough different costumes and wigs to outfit a small (if rather odd) town, surrounds herself with dancers and acrobats galore, shows clips from her old TV series, and even plays all the roles in a mini-version of West Side Story (one of the extras). Oh, and she sings too, covering everything from the Sonny & Cher years to her early solo career and her renaissance as a disco diva via "Believe." Bottom line: The Farewell Tour is a dynamic, sometimes silly, always entertaining show. As Cher herself notes, Britney, J-Lo, and all the others have a tough act to follow. --Sam Graham

Was a good show, but only good.... July 23, 2004 I really don't like to get Cher fans mad at me being one myself, but this concert was simply a repeat of the 99 Believe Tour with different costumes and a few song changes. I went to go see this show live in Toronto and it was really well done, however it was because it was live. The person who wrote the review comparing it to Madonna is sadly mistaken, all Madonna's tours are different and unique. The extra's on this DVD are alright as well, best being the 3 extra performances.
THE ULTIMATE DIVA! July 18, 2004 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this DVD yesterday and have already watched it about 5 times! Cher's natural gift for performing makes this concert an electrifying show with too many costume changes to count on both hands! The show's song run as follows: 1. I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For 6/10 2. Song For The Lonely 8/10 3. Gayatri Mantra 5/10 4. All Or Nothing 7/10 5. I Found Someone 8/10 6. Bang Bang 7/10 7. Sonny & Cher Medley (The Beat Goes On, Baby Don't Go, I Got You Babe) 9/10 8. All I Really Want To Do (Medley Part 1) 6/10 9. Half-Breed (Medley Part 2) 7/10 10. Gypsies, Tramps & Thieves (Medley Part 3) 8/10 11. Dark Lady (Medley Part 4) 9/10 12. Take Me Home 5/10 13. The Way Of Love 6/10 14. After All 10/10 15. Just Like Jesse James 10/10 16. Heart Of Stone 6/10 17. The Shoop Shoop Song 10/10 18. Strong Enough 9/10 19. If I Could Turn Back Time 10/10 20. Believe 9/10 Every song in the show is a classic but nothing can beat Cher's performances of 'Just Like Jesse James', 'The Shoop Shoop Song', and 'If I Could Turn Back Time'. The 'Sonny & Cher' montage is a nice stroll down memory lane as are the montages showing Cher's movies and and other things including her Oscar win for 'Moonstruck'. The special features are also very entertaining and include a behind the scenes look at the tour, Cher's special version of 'West Side Story', and the 2003 re-edit music video for 'If I Could Turn Back Time'. This is a must have DVD for any Cher fan young or old, the only bad thing about it is that it is her farewell tour!
Cher's Captivating, DVD Production Could Be Better July 11, 2004 First the kudos. Cher was not only in Miami for this show, but must have stopped off at The Fountain of Youth on the way. She looked and sounded great. Her voice has somehow gotten even better as she has aged. The show is extravagant, with Cher singing her hits in the midst of highly costumed dancers, gymnasts, video clips, and a light show. My minor criticism. As with many performances on DVD, it was somewhat "overproduced." The camera switches scenes too often, uses zoom too often, and does not focus on the star enough. I'm also very tired of seeing faces in the crowd on DVDs. When you attend a concert, do you watch the crowd or the stage? Despite my minor criticism, Cher makes the whole thing very entertaining and worthwhile. If you like concert DVDs, this one is very good and worth buying. If you are a Cher fan, it is a must.
Absolutely Chertastic! May 16, 2004 I absolutely love Cher and the music world would definitely have lost a true Diva! But to be fair, the Farewell Tour pales in comparison to the Live in Concert DVD. For one, I thought she had more fun doing the Live in Concert DVD. She was more relaxed and her vocal crisper. The choreography and theatric production was also more creative and fun. With the Farewell DVD I think there was a feeling of trying too hard to make it her best ever concert, so as to leave a legacy, that she forgot to let herself loose fully. But Cher being Cher, the production was still good. But a true fan would know the difference. Not that it matters, since any true fan, like me, would have bought both DVD anyway!
THE CHER-EST SHOW IN THE UNIVERSE!! May 2, 2004 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I saw CHER in Atlanta on April 25, 2003, and it will always be THE GREATEST NIGHT OF MY LIFE! I grew up watching the Sonny & Cher show on tv, and playing Cher songs on my record player over and over and over, I must have played "The Way of Love" and "Gypsies, Tramps, and Thieves" and "Dark Lady" a thousand times, and I sat there in Philips Arena watching her sing these songs, and it was as if it were a dream come true. Every minute was magnificent, every song was simply sensational! The entire arena rocked and thundered when she did "Bang Bang, My Baby Shot Me Down," and it was hard to believe it was a 57 year old woman on stage, singing that song! The concert didn't stop for even a minute, all the way through until the final song, "Believe," that really brought down the house, with the dancers both on stage and flying through the air on wire. Yep, the night was magnificent, and this dvd captures it completely and wonderfully. Cher, you really are the greatest ever!!
