From Amazon.com If you love concert DVDs that offer first-rate music, excellent sound and picture, a beautiful setting, and substantial bonus features, then Alison Krauss and Union Station Live is destined to become your new favorite. It's not just for bluegrass fans either, as proven by Krauss's crossover success on the smash soundtrack of O Brother, Where Art Thou? as well as her pop-oriented hits such as "Now That I've Found You." That song plus "The Lucky One," "When You Say Nothing at All," and others are the perfect showcase for Krauss's meltingly gorgeous voice, and admirers of the concert's two-CD set will also find out how funny she is in her between-songs banter. AKUS has never been all about Krauss, however, so there are also instrumental jams plus featured spots for other members, including Dan Tyminski on O Brother's rousing "I Am a Man of Constant Sorrow." The second DVD offers 50 minutes of interviews in which all five members plus drummer Larry Atamanuik discuss their influences, their instruments, and their favorite songs. There's also backstage and road footage, baby pictures, and more. Perhaps the only disappointment is that two songs from the CDs are not included in the concert: "Down to the River to Pray," which is heard over the end credits but not shown on stage--presumably because the CD version was not taken from this 2002 Louisville show--and "There Is a Reason." --David Horiuchi

An evening of musical perfection in your living room April 12, 2006 craig houston (Newmarket, Ontario) Plug it in, sit back and relax in front of the big screen and be prepared to be entertained for over 2 hrs by some of the finest musicians of their genre on the planet today, all reproduced in excellent HD quality. If you already own the CD, then the DVD is a must. It's the next best thing to being there, adding that extra dimension the CD doesn't give you. What the CD does not offer is the added banter by Alison with the audience and amongst the other 5 musicians. Her introductions of the players are a welcome addition. The extra musician who is not always on stage is the drummer from Canada. You will also witness the immense pleasure these musicians have in bringing their music to you.
Amazing February 22, 2006 S.L. Richard I've been a big fan of Alison Krauss and Union Station for many years. First time I saw the Live Concert was on CMT Canada, but it only featured an hour of the concert. I decided to buy the DVD for better sound quality. I was quite suprised to find that the concert is almost 2 hours long and features over 20 songs. It's awe inspiring and refreshing to see musicians who can actually sing and play instruments like they do. This is a must have DVD for music fans of any genre.
Just gets better! September 27, 2005 Relatively new to Alison Krauss and Union Station - seen them at calgary folk fest 4 or 5 years ago and have been very impressed with the quality of the music and musicianship. Picked this up last year and loved it from the beginning. Showcases the talent of the individuals while keeping the music very much a group effort. Alison has a beautiful voice and a warm presence. Seen them this summer at a concert quite similar to the DVD, but still new and fresh. I have this on often, it is good music and fun to listen to.
"Mesmerizing" May 23, 2004 S. Coons (San Diego, CA USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This DVD played in one of the recorded formats, "DTS SURROUND SOUND", is just an unbelieveable experience and you just sit in your chair, mesmerized by the outstanding music. It is like you are in the front row of the concert at the Palace Theater in Louisville, Kentucky.
AMAZING! March 11, 2004 The DVD is AMAZING! I love AKUS and they take my breath away! Our wedding song was "When You Say Nothing At All" and everytime I hear it, everything around me just stops. INCREDIBLE! I don't usually purchase DVDs but this one is a keeper! :)
