I have been keeping a close eye on rare collectable/worthy vintage concert dvd's like this and I was not disappointed. Here you have April Wine in their full glory, three guitars, big energetic production and at the top of their game. The only drawbacks are some funny video effects employed throughout (although advanced for the time) and that this concert was filmed on the "Nature Of The Beast Tour" which means the majority of songs are from that album and therefore some other great April Wine songs (Oowattanite, You Could've Been a Lady for example) were not in the set . The performance is outstanding in the sense that as it was back in the day when a band like this would always add a little extra guitar or drum, bass playing at the end of a song which April Wine does here with exceptional skill (not to mention the killer Jerry Mercer drum solo during "I Like to Rock" and then the song goes out with the 'Satisfaction' part). The video quality is on par for the period (VHS quality) and the editing is actually quite good. As for the sound quality if you have an advanced home theatre system and know how to use it set-up as live music and crank this up and it will knock you on you hind end. I saw April Wine on every tour from 1978 to 1984 and as recently as 2002 I can tell you if you want to go back and relive those moments from April Wines glory days or if todays bands want to see how it's done this dvd is your ticket. I'm glad I've made this my 77th concert on dvd.

I have waited years for an official "April Wine" concert release and after viewing this DVD it appears the wait will continue. "I like To Rock" but just "Between You and Me" fans of this great Canadian rock band will be completely disappointed with this DVD release. It's evident that no amount of restoration or effort went into cleaning up this 1981 concert filmed at London's legendary Hammersmith Odeon from Cherry Red Records. I can't believe that the studio didn't use the original masters from this show and spend some money on cleaning it up for this release. One look at the disc packaging and disc artwork you'd think this was a major effort put out by Cherry Red Records but that's where the excitement stops. The picture is barely viewable on a 37" LCD television and the simulated 5.1 surround sound could have been much better. The poor DVD editing, low budget strobe effect and between song interviews completely take away everything good from this memorable show. I can't find any formal acknowledgement from the band members that they actually had anything to do with this so called official DVD release from Cherry Red Records anywhere. The band is still incredible, the 15 song set list is equally as impressive but everything else about this concert DVD has left this "April Wine" fan extremely disappointed.
