The Best HD Picture and Sound Quality on Blu-ray, yet! October 21, 2007 Nasim Noroozi 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
A MUST OWN for Blu-ray and HD fans! 'Mission: Impossible III' as a film has already earned the distinction of being labeled a disappointment, but it is no stinker. Though it is understandable that many have become turned off by Tom Cruise, 'M:I III' is a strong thriller in its own right, and for me, it is superior to the first two installments in the franchise. As for this Blu-ray release, major kudos must go to Paramount as this is by far the best disc I've yet seen on the format. Fantastic video, audio and tons of HD content make this perhaps the best demo material available thus far on the format. Sure, some will still lament the use of MPEG-2 and the lack of the picture-in-picture commentary as seen on the HD DVD version, but 'M:I III' goes a long way toward heating up the format war to the near-boiling point. This one is a must-have for all but the most ardent Tom Cruise haters. The only disappointment is that it's not produced on Blu-ray anymore. Paramount/Dreamworks had a thing on September with Sony and after that they made a great deal with HD DVD and went exclusive to HD DVD! What a shame! 'Cause Blu-ray has the best quality transfer, the latest technology, the most capacity and also is the strongest against scratches and pressures.
Keri Russel,Laurence Fishburne,Philip Seymour Hoffman.... August 18, 2007 falcon (canada) the three main reasons this "Mission Impossible" entry is the best yet.yeah,Tom Cruise is back,of course, and does a good job as the main character Ethan Hunt.however,it is the presence of the three actors mentioned in my summary which make this movie succeed.first,Laurence Fishburne,a physically imposing presence for sure, but also extremely charismatic with a very palpably intense screen presence.i think he owns any scene he is in.next,Philip Seymour Hoffman, also a very strong screen presence who manges to be both understated and mesmerizing at the same time.and Keri Russel(from the dramatic TV series Felicity) really impressed here in an action movie.in fact she impressed me the most in this movie.there is just something about her, something intangible you can't put your finger on.the rest of the supporting cast are also strong.also, this third installment in the series is not convoluted, like the first, and not as reality defying as the second.don't get me wrong, there are some stunts that are not too realistic, but to a lesser degree and not as frequent.i also think the story is better and the villain is very strong.this would be the ideal end to the franchise, since it goes out on a high note.but time will tell.the last three or four "Bond" films(excluding the last one) were much more unrealistic.i highly recommend MI:III.an easy 4/5.
Mission Impossible 3 October 2, 2006 Marcia (Vancouver) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I can't belief I'm writing this, but MS3 is better than 1 & 2. This is from someone who thinks sequels are tacky Hoolywood money makers and avoids them like the plague. I'm old enought to remember MS on TV years ago and watched it weekly. This movie is the closest to the old format yet delivered. I will actually buy it when it comes out. I'd rate MS1 6 out of 10; MS 2 - 5 out 0f 10 and MS 3 - 8 out of 10. It's the closest to the original series I've seen yet. Tom cruise actually acts well for an action movie and I like this one. All it needs is a more realistic opening where Tom Cruise is asked to take the mission knowing he will be disavowed if he screws up which of course he doesn't. The original crew never did either. Go on it's worth a few bucks. This is fun!
HIGHLY UNDERRATED September 12, 2006 Scott M. Strybos (Toronto, Canada) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
This is a great action movie and by far out does the second Mission Impossible. It recieved a lot of bad press and negative attention because of all the controversy surrounding Tom Cruise, but looked at as an action film, is filled with great action, great characters and great writing. J.J Abrhams did the franchise justice and restored my faith in Ethan Hunt after being shaken by the second. Excellent action film.
