1 out of 5 stars i'd rather have my sinuses scraped   October 26, 2007

This movie is pathetic.every drama i've ever seen is funnier than this
'alleged' comedy.even the anti piracy warning before the movie,is
funnier.i'd give an overview of the plot, but it's just too
painful.right after the movie,i booked myself for a sinus
scraping, followed directly after by a 4 day insurance seminar.i had an
ear to ear grin through both the scraping and the insurance
seminar.they were both much more entertaining than Anchorman.i know
some people thought this movie was funny, but i can't help but wonder if
they were either paid,or were somehow involved with the making of the
movie.there's no other rational explanation.i didn't find the movie
offensive in any way,it was just horribly, depressingly boring.maybe if
i had gouged out my eyeballs while watching it,i would have been more
entertained.if you like your comedies with no comedy involved, this
one's for you.otherwise, try Harold and Kumar go to White Castle,or
Repli-Kate,two insanely hysterical comedies.there is no rating low
enough for this dreck.

3 out of 5 stars Okay-IT'S FUNNY,but...ONLY IN A FEW PARTS!   October 24, 2007

This movie was alright.I'm glad i never spent the BIG BUCKS to go see this on the BIG SCREEN,because it's funny, but only in parts.

Love the idea. The premise.Love some of the lines(the obvious "I'm kind of a big deal").But,this movie does run out of steam about halfway through as fas as i am concerned.

A better movie(imo)and CLEARLY along the same lines(the silliness & all that comes w/ that)is Talladega Nights.

If your looking for a Will F. movie that abodies all that Anchorman does and more.In otherwords it can sustain you for it's length,w/ laughs throughout? You really can't do better that TN.

I say see that first(if you have not seen Anchorman yet). Then, perhaps come back and check this out.

For me,CLEARLY a rent and NOT A BUY.Even w/ this version/edition.Still not worth my earned cash.

Let me start of by saying that those of you who think this movie is "childish", "immature" and "stupid" are 100% correct. But one thing you can not call this movie is unfunny. This is a work of art people! The immature, stupid gags are what make it funny! Sure PETA might nto enjoy watching a cocker spaniel being kicked over a bridge but the average guy from age 12 to 30 will love it. Yes this movie is nto for everyone but if you have a crazy, goofy sense of humour you will worship the ground Will Ferell walks on from the moment he screams "CANNONBALL" all the way until he finishes with "You Stay Classy...WORLD!". For those fo you who don't know this movie is about an anchorman named Ron Burgundy (will Ferrell) and his newscaster buddies who work at San Diego's number one news station. However thigns get shaken up once a new FEMALE (gasp) joins the crew and gets Ron fired. Hilarity ensues. Boo yeah. If your a teen or university student you will love this movie. 50 year old librarians....not so much.

2 out of 5 stars This movie must be seen more than once to appreciate.   August 30, 2005

The title of my review says it all. The first time I saw this film I passed it off as childish and ridiculous. I thought Adam Sandler was over-the-top and childish, but Will Ferrell takes the cake. The jokes are very twisted in this film, but the storyline is well narrated and the characters are well developed. Ferrell did a decent number on this one.
Steve Carroll's character was one of the funniest. It was bizarre characters like Carroll's which made the movie so funny. Vince Vaughn did well in his role. Ben Stiller's appearance was most confusing, but the fighting scene is a riot (get it, haha? bad joke). I don't know how the movie could have been written or acted better. Maybe the dopey and immature Adam Sandler should take a hint from this film, grow up, and write something similar. Lately, Sandler's films have been stupid and trashy, but Will Ferrell has emerged onto the moviemaking scene and is now one of the U.S.'s fastest rising movie comedians. Two thumbs up, Ferrell. Keep the movies cranking.
