Editorial Reviews:

IMeet the Parents/I found such tremendous success in the chemistry produced by the contrasting personalities of stars Robert De Niro and Ben Stiller that the film's creators went for broke with the same formula again in IMeet the Fockers/I. This time around, Jack and Dina Byrnes (De Niro and Blythe Danner) climb into Jack's new kevlar-lined RV with daughter Pam (Teri Polo), soon-to-be son-in-law Gaylord (Stiller), and Jack's infant grandson from his other daughter for the trip to Florida to meet Gaylord's parents, Bernie and Roz Focker (Dustin Hoffman and Barbra Streisand in a casting coup). The potential in-laws are, of course, the opposite of Jack, a pair of randy, touchy-feely fun-lovers. The rest of the movie is pretty much a sitcom: put Bernie and Roz together with Jack, and watch the in-laws clash as Gaylord squirms. As with the original, there is a sense of joy in watching these actors take on their roles with obvious relish, and the Hoffman-Streisand-Stiller triumvirate is likeable enough to draw you in. But the formula doesn't work as well in IFockers/I mostly because much of the humor is based on two obvious gimmicks: Gaylord Focker's name, and the fact that Streisand's character is a sex therapist. As a result, the movie itself is more contrived and predictable, and a lot less fun than the original. The casting is grand, but one wishes more thought was put into the script.I--Dan Vancini/I

3 out of 5 stars decent, but lackluster follow up to the original (2.5/5)   October 30, 2007

The follow up to Meet the Parents is generally a decent film.not as br /funny as the first, and a bit tedious at times, but all in all not a bad br /effort.in this installment,Pam's parents, the Byrnes(Robert Deniro and br /Blythe Danner)meet Greg's parent's,the Fockers(Dustin Hoffman and br /Barbra Streisand).the two families are like night and day, which should br /make for some hilarity, but for me,the most of the jokes and situations br /fall fairly flat.there are some funny moments, just not as many as i had br /hoped there would be be,and i to me,this movie is not always br /entertaining.there are some spots that lag or scenes that could have br /been cut.the movie doesn't flow as smoothly as it should. i think the br /acting is OK but i felt that the material was lackluster.i believe br /there are plans for a third installment.if so i hope they iron out any br /bugs and maybe the third will be more on par with the first.this movie br /is average, but could have been so much more,in my mind. 2.5/5

I once remember when i was 16 and i just finished soccer pratice and boy, was i thirsty! I raced home and took the milk carton out of the fridge and just drank it down. The moment i put down the carton, i realized that something was wrong in the taste in my mouth, i immediatly looked at the milk experation date and it was a week old! Yuck!pI totally got more sick by the thought of that and the buildup of the rotten milk taste in my mouth and i starting throwing up everywhere, trust me...not a pretty sight!pNow, your asking what the hell does this have to do with the review? Good question, it has everything to do with it, from me being sick, and getting that rotten taste in my mouth by watching this stupid, stupid, stupid movie.pLadies and gentleman, this movie was made purely for sucking you out of your hard-earned money and it did a great job at that. (over 130 million at the box office!) pYes, the first one was ok, so people that loved the first felt compelled to see the second one, and the filmakers knew that..so let's make a sequel, add new gross out scenes, make more fun of the focker last name (cause it's so easy), add in a cute kid, make Ben Stiller still screw up and get himself in weird and wacky situations, and make Robert de niro more crazier and deranged than the first.(which they did but it wasn't funny, what was the needle in the neck scene? Pretty weird!)pI know people that actually liked this film but these same people liked Garfield the movie as well so i wouldn't put too much credit on them to actually review a film. pThey would say it was light hearted, cute, and funny...I would say it was aweful, disturbing, and the unfunniest movie i've ever seen or at least the worst of 2004.pAnd Robert de niro, who USED to be my favorite actor, do you have to do so many films per year? I wouldn't mind if they were good but Godsend, Hide and Seek and this film were absolute garbage!pNot much else to say because...no matter what i say more in this review, your all still going to watch the movie! YOUR ALL BRAINWASHED!! pHmmmmm, guess i was too at that time!pBut at least now, you've been WARNED!! OR IS IT TOO LATE??!!
