Amazing Book April 22, 2008 K. Doyle 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is an amazing book. I could not put it down. This book made me sad and mad all at the same time. At times I had to put the book down to get my anger out of me.
A Thousand Splendid (Amazon) Stars April 13, 2008 I LOVE BOOKS (Italy) After all these reviews, I would only add a comment and the umpteenth praise for such a fascinating and heartbreaking book (just as it happened after I read `The Kite Runner'). If I had a hypothetical scale to weigh my preference between `The Kite Runner' and `A Thousand Splendid Suns', I do not know which one would earn the winning position, despite their differences. I guess that's the fate of this second, marvelous book, to be forever compared to the first one by the same author. When I picked it up, I could not, would not believe that I would like it as much as the first one (it rarely happens with second books, especially if the first ones where such triumphs). But I did. Loved them to the same degree, I mean. Tashakor, Mr. Hosseini. Thank you. Thank you very much, if you'll ever read this, for yet another unforgettable tale. It is not just that, it is the meaning beyond it, delivered to us, your readers, with an awareness made more significant by the deep, evident love for your native, wounded country. Keep up with the good work!
Powerful Story April 4, 2008 Ana Tirolese (London Canada) WOW! This story had my emotions running the gamut. I will admit, I had nightmares for several night while reading this book. I finished it a few days ago and it is still running through my head. It was THAT powerful. However, having said that, this is one of the better books I have read in a long while. This is a very well written story that is powerful and touching. You really get into the characters. You become emotionally entangled in their lives. It is an extremely depressing story at times, but there is so much hope in this story as well. My husband also read this book, and he too thought it was a fabulous book. Where I found myself depressed, he found himself angry on behalf of the characters. My husband and I highly recommend this book, but be warned, it is not for the feint of heart.
Better and better! March 19, 2008 S. Ruston (Kuujjuaq, Quebec Canada) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Couldn't put the book down until I finished it! I learned of the KITE RUNNER from my son's college classes and read it and couldn't put it down. A THOUSAND SPLENDID SUNS is an even better read...can't wait for the next book!
Excellent book February 10, 2008 daniel tapak (Canada) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I read the kite runner first and was impresed by khaled Hoseini's writing. I then picked up Sun and I could not put this book down. I hope Mr. Hoseini continues to write and I will continue to buy his books.
